Longtube Headers
I am currently shopping around for headers. My top contenders are the MHP gen 2 and the benzworks long tubes. I've heard MBH makes a great product, but I prefer a 4-1 versus tri-y. What are your opinions? I want to make as close to 500rwhp as possible with headers and tune.
Also, would straight mids and a 3inch xpipe in place of resonator be a good idea to run with them?
Thanks!

I went with an iPE full exhaust system (catless) and was able to squeeze out 456rwhp on pump gas.
319 stock
359 header back stock tune
456 iPE full exhaust with custom dyno tune

There is a drone with the valves closed, sometimes it sounds "tinny" and at WOT, with the valves closed it's actually quieter then stock.

I have the BenzWorks Long Tube headers. I love them, I dynoed 480whp with Long tubes, catless mids, catless x-pipe, ROW airboxes, aFe filters and 91 pump OETuning tune. On a MS109 tune I've hit 506whp. I was impressed with the sound, fit and finish of the long tube headers.
If you are in southern California, head to Benzworks and talk with them in person. Serge and Nick will take care of any questions you have.

Yeah they most certainly do need an xpipe, I think it really smooths out the sound. Still loud, just a different kind of loud. I thought about runnning straight 3 inch mids and a 3 inch xpipe in place of the resonator. I know some swear by the xpipe in place of 2ndary cats, but I have a friend running the mhp gen 1 headers with an xpipe in place of resonator and it sounds sweet! Opinions?

You said not considering tri-y but figured I'd share my experience, MBH built me what I wanted in the time frame I wanted it done in for less than what the other manufacturers quoted me. I'm saying that because I don't want to come across as knocking anybody's products as I think they all produce great sounds and results and also not trying to push MBH but those reasons are why I chose them over others. I installed MBH's with x-pipe without cats (though I did have him set it up with interchangeable test pipes and high flow cats), the install which I did myself with jacks and jack stands was trouble free and the sound with the stock AMG cat back is obnoxiously loud I absolutely love it. Yet it C mode it's Baily louder than stock on normal driving and no drone, doesn't even get loud highway cruising until over around 80-85mph unless you want it to be. I complimented them with an OE tune and ROW boxes with K&N filters. Also as for performance I don't dyno my cars but my full weight 4130lbs car picked up 4mph from stock (122 vs 118) in air that wasn't as good as when it ran 118mph and I expect another 1-1.5mph in similar air before switching to 100oct tune so doing the math I'm very pleased with the results.
