Removing under-side crossbar??
Sort of a dilemma with my newly installed long-tube headers. Unless I cut the crossbar that goes under the car directly in front of the resonator, and underneath it, it's gonna make contact. Some say there's no harm in removing it, but I just don't want to hurt anything by doing so. I'm not into corner carving whatsoever, and if I ever do decide to do so, I can simply temporarily re-install it.
Anybody have any remedies, or experience with the bar removed?

What is the purpose of that bar in the first place?
Strengthen the undercarriage?
It might be useful for something otherwise MB would have not installed it
I'm curious to know.

I'm guessing lateral support for hard cornering would flex because of the loss of rigidity due to the driveline tunnel. I can say that the ride didn't change at all, and it sounds 100x better inside compared to the pipes resting on that cross-bar.

MBH has a cross bar with a "dip" in it to accommodate this.
I got one with the purchase of my X Pipe from them.
