There are different stories as to what MB will do. You should assume you are not covered.

Thanks for the info. I'll run it by my service guy and see what he says.

This and that.

No, very early 2011s can still have the older style headbolts in them. For example car WDDGF7HB3BF526091 has a build date of 05/31/2010 with engine 059999. Model year 2011.

My research showed engine 060658 corresponds to a build date of around 6/2010, which unfortunately is model year 2011. It would make sense then that a car made in 11/2010 would be several thousand past 60658. All 2008-2010 C63 are before engine 60658 and thus are potentially affected.
Does it matter if it is an American car or a Canadian car? I have a Canadian version. How do I check for sure if mine is in the affected range or not?

Thanks

It does not matter. If you want to know, either post your VIN number in this thread, or PM it to me.

2010 C63
My build date is June 2010 (Aus delivery).

Engine 60828 - seems I have one of the early adopters of the revised bolts

By all posts June 2010 seems to be when the changes were brought it. No certainties, but one would expect builds from July 2010 to be safe.

You can check very easily by going to the russian VIN site

http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cats/m.mycat?cat=mb

Put in your VIN and select the "Карта данных" button on top right after putting in your VIN and hitting the red button.

09 C63 AMG - ML350 - GL550
09 C63 head bolt issue

Finally had to post my experience. Still in a loner as I am negotiating with the Dealer. Bought new C63 P31 package in 6/2009. Best car I had ever owned until last week, coolant light came on (55K miles) just out of warrantee. Initial bill for replacing upper end of motor was just shy of $6k which included change of spark plugs for $250 that are usually changed out at 80k miles but dealer was not going to charge me labor.
Am currently down to 50% off repair bill and waiting for the service manager to call me to discuss. The shop foreman was a great help and detailed the head bolt issue and felt my pain but is not in a position to help.
Seems like if you are a good customer ( I own and service two other MB vehicles at the dealership) they are willing to work with you on relief but my call in to MB USA customer care was a wast of time.
Thanks for all the research on this site - I should have checked it over a year ago while the car was still under warrantee.

I would appreciate you looking up my 2010. I had the low coolant light once, topped it off and everything has been ok - and I have driven hard, hard, hard since then.

VIN : WDDGF7HB5AF478382

Joe,

Could you let me know if my VIN number is in the affected range? My C63 is a 2010. A couple of years ago I received the low coolant message and the dealer said the techs performed a pressure test and nothing wrong was detected. The message have not come up ever since.

My VIN number is WDDGF7HB6AF496275.

Thanks for your help on this!!
