tpms sensors for 2010 c63 - $206 each?

so i was thinking about picking up a set of tpms sensors for a new set of wheels... i contacted my dealer and they told me it was $206 each... i wanted to get clarification on whether they meant $206 for each set of 4... but nope, it's for each sensor... so over $800 for a set of 4 of them...

this is the part number
0009057200

is this the going rate for these? i know it was in 2010 when the display actually showed what psi each tire was... but i didn't realize it made each sensor cost so much...

You can get them here for about $100 each if you want to stick OEM. http://www.oediscountparts.com/parts...&siteid=215242 (shipping is free)

Or you could go aftermarket, it's probably cheaper.

i wouldn't mind going aftermarket if i know that they would work without needing some sort of tool to update the sensors...

I bought aftermarket sensors for my CL for $32 each from Amazon. Should not require any special tools for our cars but I have not put mine on yet since they will be going on my summer tires/wheels.

Bought mine off ebay last year (March). 4 OEM tpms for 145$ shipped.

Looks like there was an increase in price:

I have heard of making a pressurized type canister for certain cars and tpms sensors. Piece of pvc, end caps, drill a hole in one end and insert valve, seal everything and put all the sensors in there. Then just fill it up and place it in the car where it recognizes the sensors.

This way you only need 1 set. Obvious downside is you can't tell if your tires are actually low but for me that doesn't matter and I trust my ability to sense they are low without sensors. I hate having a light on.

Hold on, you have a 2010 with TPMS?

I was under the impression the 2010 C63's did not come with TPMS'?

Yes, the 2010 have TPMS. I believe Roswell was stating that the ones in Canada don't have TPMS, for whatever reason.

I also bought a set recently off of eBay for around $150 shipped and they worked perfectly.

I have a 2010 Canadian car and it does not have tpms sensors. Instead it uses a system based off the ABS system that can tell when a tire has low pressure because the low tire will have a different ABS sensor reading than a fully inflated tire. It does not read tire pressures and can only tell when a tire has deflated enough to cause the sensor reading to vary from the other 3 wheels.

I actually don't mind having this system.

Saves us the head ache of switching the sensors over to a new set of wheels etc.

My thoughts exactly. I can monitor the tire pressures myself just like I have for the past 45 years.

i moved from a 2009 to a 2010

iirc the 2009 only told you if tire pressure is low

the 2010 shows you the psi for each tire... i find this quite helpful... every now and then i can check it on the fly... if i see something isn't up to my spec, then i can get it filled appropriately and know which tire needs air...

i'm not entirely sure how the tpms sensors work on the 09 vs 10... but that's why i don't want to accidentally buy the wrong set...

My 2009 has them. I wish it showed which tire was low like the 2010 and newer. I paid $75 for one. Think I'll need to look at Amazon for a set when I order wheels someday ;-)
