Air in or air out?

Hey guys... I'm debating between a Renntech carbon intake or a SuperSprint cat back exhaust for my 09 CLS63. Only mods I have are a Eurocharged tune and just got new lightweight rotors all around (not installed yet).

Any thoughts between the 2 on money better spent?

And yes, i know this is the C63 section... lots of traffic and knowledgable guys here Thanks!

The airbox is gorgeous, but it is primarily a cosmetic feature.

You want looks or horsepower, that is the question?

A lil more HP... I thought either one would provide about 5-7HP?

Would think that the cat back would produce more, however the butt dyno would probably not feel either. Sound versus looks?

From what I read, either would only be a handful of HP... I guess I would prefer the cat back and sound.
I've read that the AMG's from the mid section back have nice flow but not as nice going in. That's why I wonder which would be a better option.
Thanks for the help :-)

Catbackx1000000. Why pay so much for an intake that's only for looks? AMG did a pretty darn good job with our intakes. So how often do you put your hood up? lol. If you have money to spend and don't care, then up to you, but i'd go with the catback. Maybe even an AP one, it's valvetronic, pretty much identical to IPE for much less.

Go with a set of mbh headers. Best mod for the money.

That's cuz people change the mids and secondary cats.....if u leave stock mids and secondary, you can use the headers and it won't be much louder. I had this setup but deleted the secondary for mikes h-pipe .....h pipe with headers sounds awesome. Perfect sound.

The real gem is coupling mbh headers with supersprint mufflers. Supersprint is the same muffler as carlsson.

Thanks! So you think if I just throw a set of LTH's on, the sound won't be much louder? What about the cold starts?
As for the "gem", funding only allows for a SS cat back or LTH's...

If u have to pick one- headers. It won't be too loud and cold starts aren't loud with your stock secondary on. Huge power increase.

Hands down for headers! But keeping the second cat will limit you maximum airflow. So you wont see as much HP increase as others (catless) would see.

Shorty headers are a waste of money. Not much different than stock with a cat delete.

Go long tube mbh

You would not know anything has changed until you step on the gas more than usual, totally undetectable on the interstate too. it will bark a bit when starting, but that's about the only time you won't really be able to control whether the car is loud or not. I will admit that after my header and cat-less mid-pipe install that there was some very loud "droning" in the interior, but it was because of the aluminum cross-bar coming in contact with the pipes leading into the factory resonator. I simply removed the cross-bar, and have been smiling from ear to ear since.

x 10 on the shorty's
I'm happy with my mhp's but I'm sure any long-tubes will give you great results, shortys won't change nothing besides your wallet thickness imo.

It will absolutely be louder, but only when you get aggressive with the loud pedal, otherwise, you'll be riding in a factory sounding/acting car.
