some sort of fluid on my engine. oil leak?

Hey,

Recently bought a used C63 2010 with 27k miles (havent gotten around to posting an opening thread yet...). Anyways I went to go drive my car today after about two weeks and when I got to my destination I smelled a faint burning smell. I opened up the hood and took pictures of what looks to be some sort of fluid near my oil cap. Any idea what this could be? Looks to light to be oil. I got my oil changed two weeks ago at a MB dealership (last time I drove it).

Let me know your thoughts.

Did it look like that before your oil change? I've had something similar happen to me, but spotting in a couple different areas of the engine bay on my 09 c63, they said it was normal.

Honestly didn't look at the engine bay immediately prior to the oil change. Not even sure its oil look to be very faint.

+1. They probably spilled some when filling it up.

If it's happening ALL THE TIME, chances are you have some kind of leak that's dripping on the exhaust manifold.

Yes its happening all the time! It started happening right after I brought my car for service -routine oil change.

Hmmm... first things I'd look at would be the filter and filler cap and the drain bolts on the crankcase and oil cooler (although these are at the bottom when you're driving the oil can still run back along the bottom of the pan and come in contact with the exhaust). Do you see any leaks anywhere? Is there anything that you can see from the top of the engine?

If you had it done at a shop I would just take it back and tell them that you have an oil leak that started with the oil change. On a 2012, chances are something is just loose. Maybe they forgot to put new crush washers on one of the drain plugs.

The 156 has a really tight oil hole! A little too fast a pour, it spills over. Clean and monitor.
