10k Mile Service - Worth It or Not?
Just at 10k ('13 P31 sedan) and have only seen some limited info when searching as to whether it is worth it at the dealer, go indy shop or just DIY my oil/filter and go from there.
Any recent TSBs, recalls, software updates that would help at the 10k service that may help?
Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have not had a lot of call for warranty repairs but have never had an issue with the dealer over warranty. I do my own services and keep detailed notes of what I did and when I did it. I also keep copies of receipts for purchases of parts and consumables used during the services. I also buy my filter's from the dealer so they know what I am up to and discuss mods and potential issues so we both know where we stand.
No question doing your own service can lead to being questioned about when and what services were performed. Be prepared for it and discuss this with your dealer service adviser or manager. This may also cause issues with extended warranties so if you want one discuss this with the dealer representative before you do your own services.

An A service is basically and oil/filter change and inspection. I have no idea what your local MB dealer charges, but I would think you could get that done for $99-$150.

When my first A service was due I called the local dealer and he wanted $276 plus 13% tax to do it. Some dealers are a little lower some higher. Depends on your location and local competition. If you can find it for under $150 you are doing well, if the full service is done and not just dump the oil and change the filter, but the full inspection as well.

I do my own services on my AMG's but do bring my standard MB's in to the dealer, have been for many years and like Mort I keep track of when and receipts for parts. Haven't had many warrenty claims either though so I don't know how that would go, hope to never to find out.

That is the normal price, but it is possible to catch service specials. I think i t really depends on how many MB dealers there are in your area. The more competitive it is, the easier it is to find a deal.

$245 otd.
not sure where someone is seeing $150 for the A service @ 10k. oil, filter and labor on oil change alone is that even before the rest of the A 10k mile inspection and fluid fill.
