Im not offended at all - its not my build. And because of that I cant really tell you why. I suspect its "because they can". Somebody wants a sleeper I guess. If you want a helluva lot of power, in a stealthy package, this is as good a way as any I guess.

Actually, IMHO that's pretty cool. It would be the ultimate sleeper. If they are going with the Evo body, I'd get letters for the Cosworth "2.3-16" badge and change it to read "6.3-32" just for fun.

To each their own. If the owner of that car is happy, then good for him. That's all that matters. All I know is if I had that money to burn on a project like that I'd be putting it to something that isn't a sleeper haha.

I think its interesting just from the standpoint that a lot of the cars that are built like this are for the transportation of various.......merchandise. Think moonshiners, but modern. This car doesn't have that much interior space though.

But a thought occurred to me....if you were going to take a run at the cross country record, this would be a damn good vehicle to try it in. Fast, but low profile.

saw this car in person at their shop a while ago when i went to buy a part from them.

he told me what they planned on doing and i was perplexed as to why, but i just kept it moving.

i think i also remember him saying that they race in different places.

i just dont understand the "sleeper" allure... its kinda like sucker punching someone... sure you knocked them out but they werent prepared so no big win there

It's not about sneaking up on unsuspecting people and/or racing them. It's about not drawing attention to yourself. A Lambo screams "look at me" even when it's standing still. A 190E on the other hand will go by unnoticed by pretty much anyone, which is what some people (myself included) like. I know what I have under the hood, but I don't feel the need to shout it out or publicly advertise it. It's the same thing with de-badging high-end models (i.e. E63) that can pass for the lower models (E350).

You're completely missing the point. A Yugo is still a crappy car even if you could put a Bugatti Veyron motor in it. As for the hot girlfriend, it's not whether she is hot, but rather whether she flaunts her warez and looks like a wh0re. If you're choosing your cars (or girlfriends) so that others will look at you and envy you instead of your own enjoyment, you have some self-esteem issues that you need to address first.

Some people simply don't want to attract attention. It is perfectly fine if you're not one of them, but contrary to what you may think, it's not stupid just because it's not your cup of tea.

Agreed - not sure sleeper is the right word. More like resto-mod. These guys are top notched craftsmen. I had them do some work on my 911 which was excellent.


I have seen that V10 E30 close up, the engineering and safety that went into that thing is amazing - it is a daily driver and gets used, not some show car to be trailered around.


Some people like the older body styles better...again not sure it is meant to be a sleeper at all, just someone that wants significant performance and modern day suspension/braking/transmission and engine management in a retro package.

I am with Diabolis and ParkerK. This is kind of like the ultimate mod. THis is all one off craftsman type work, and when done well its a pretty remarkable achievement. I am sure that whether its your thing or not, most guys on this site can appreciate the engineering and execution of it.

There are three ways you can go:

If you make a car thats an 8 look like an 8, thats no achievement really. Most people can do it.
If you make a car thats an 8 look like a 10, then you're a poser.
Make an 8 look like a 6....now thats unique.
