Where to get wheels powder coated: Toronto, Canada

Hey everybody, have had my white C63 completely stock for about a year and a half now and want to update the look of my car a bit by powder coating my 19" multi-spoke OEMS gloss black.

I know there's a pretty big crowd of owners from the GTA on this forum, so I was wondering if someone could point out a good place to get them done.

Also, how much should I expect to pay on average?

Thanks for the help!

Check out Metal Coaters,

They are located in Mississauga off of Airport road. Its about 3-400 to do all 4. You will have to bring the wheels to them without the tires.

Speak with Taj, tell him Kris sent you. He just did my HRE wheels.

They use Metal Coaters to finish the wheels.

Precision only does the metal work.

Thanks! Did you get your HRE wheels clear coated as well? Or is that already included in the package?

Also, anyone got any input on what colour might look best? I'm pretty set on gloss black with a chrome lip, but was considering gunmetal too. Not sure how that would look on a white coupe though.

I had them cleared as well, the finish I chose for them was meant for indoor use. So I had them apply a coat of clear for protection and of course For a bit of gloss.

One last question, do you know if they sandblasted the wheels? I've been reading a lot of posts saying that the finish won't last very long if the wheels are sandblasted first to maintain adhesion.

They have option of either Sand Blasting or Chemical stripping the paint.

I have never heard about any issues about adhesion after sandblasting. The powder coating process requires baking the powder onto the metal at extremely high temps. So I'm sure it will be okay.

Hey Ben,

If you have a curbed or bent rim, Metal coaters won't fix it. You gotta go to a metal working shop to get it done. These guys just do powder coating for the most part.

For repairs (like curbing or MILD flat-spotting on cast wheels), I would also recommend Union Rim Repair. Stay away form Carcone's.

As for powder-coating, I have repeatedly used Coluorific Coatings in Missisauga with great results every time. If you need to strip the wheels first, Techno Strip in Brampton does chemical stripping for the large majority of the automotive industry in Southern Ontario. Although they mostly work with large corporate accounts, they do small jobs as well. Full disclosure - they are my clients and the owner is a friend of mine.

Any of you guys have any experience with Sports Car Boutique either? Planning to just bite the bullet and get a new set of P43 HREs, and they're listed at $1425 on their site.

Most sites don't list their prices so I got no clue if thats a good deal or not

5700$ for a set of HRE P43 is about right. You could find a tad cheaper in the states, but with our crappy exchange rate, it will come out the same.

Refinishing Rims

+1 on Precision Rim at 118 Rivalda road. They also can repair curb rash or bends.

For curb rash etc you can also try Union Rim Repair. They are also good guys.
