Took the C down to SD...fuel economy report

On the way back, the gas station north of LA was right off the highway and so was my "home" gas station. With cruise control set at 75mph (speed limit on I-5 is mostly 70mph) I for the following stats...

So it's possible that I could have gotten close to 350 miles on a tank if I drained it. I also did the real mpg math and got just under 19mpg (268 miles / 14.3 gal = 18.75mpg). As you see, our stats read a little high.

I've gotten closer to 22mpg according to the dash, probably like 20 realistically, when I went for a more efficient speed. That's probably in the neighborhood of 65-70mph.

South Dakota is cold this time of year.
Was the gas station North of LA in Arkansas?

JK

Thanks for the stats. Were you trying to acheive high MPG or just seeing what you got on a long trip?

your mom
20.1 mpg.

I am pretty sure, if you could manage 65 mph, you;d have seen much better.

Once, I drove about 45 miles cruising at 65mph and my dash said I was doing 22.2mpgs. So I'm sure that's more like 20.

I was actually trying to strike a balance between speed and fuel economy. I was hoping to get back to NorCal before 9:30pm and I left SD at 2:30pm. I actually would've made better time if there wasn't a huge accident on 210WB that shut down the entire highway. I easily lost 20 minutes there.
