Engine design - new 4.0TT

And how the hell do you know?
This will suck for the aftermarket guys wanting to do downpipes.
The duramax is like that. Makes it easy to remove the single turbo.
I doubt we will see it like that, doesn't make much sense if its TT.

Wow thanks for the response. Why the hell do you doubt it?
Don't really want to state at this point how I know.

I am betting they are using the M278 4.6L V8 TT tuned up. It already comes at 455 hp (335 kW) at 5250 rpm, 516 ft·lbs (700 N·m) between 1800-3500 rpm.
Why develop a brand new engine to go into two cars?? Doesn't make sense.
I guess we will seeeee.

I heard that they are just taking 2 CLA45 engines and basically mating them to make a 4L v8. Weather or not the hot side is in the V I am not sure.

Ya I seen that online too but where did it come from... Even the confirmed 4.0l is just speculation of some guy who interviewed an AMG guy, all the AMG guy said was they are going with smaller engines... That's it.

Yes it is like BMW in the V setup.
I realize it's been said this and that, just thought you guys would like to know some early info.
It will not be a 278 version.
AMG since the 156 has seemingly wanted to design and build all their own engines, not just use tuned up versions of regular mb motors which to me has seemed like a good thing.
Btw , there are 2 , yes 2 new C63's in the US as of right now. Not in public hands obviously.

There is not ONE single quote or article that links anything to a 4.0L, it's all complete speculation.
One article speculated and said confirmed and the rest have been quoting false info.

It's not available to the public for a reason and you're sharing it with us which would likely be a breach of contract with your employer or whoever you signed an NDA with. This is assuming you're directly linked to a legit source obviously.
But, I'm just a moron so what do I know...

4L sounds like ****...I've never heard a 4L engine that made me go "thats loud" it's always "Damn that thing is quite" now we're going to have mustang 5.0 owners laughing at us...great unless this 4L puts out around 500hp and close in torque it's not even worth buying, if they come out and say "it has 300-400 ft tq" I'll laugh because they would have downgraded the C-class not upgraded it ...God why turbos? I owned 2 turbo cars before and never again...the turbo lag on turbo cars is disgusting...unless you spend 150k+ the car will lag and be slow until 3k+ RPM hell even turbos blow way easier then anything, ball bearing or not...after me or someone beats on it 500 times it won't hold up..fact.

Haha no need to get all True Grit on me.
Tobias Moers: "You are now familiar with our 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine? Well, you can imagine what happens when you put two of those together."
http://wot.motortrend.com/1401_we_he...#ixzz2wceOo4MF
Is that still not satisfactory?
Chris Harris: "I had a little chat with Tobias. He confirmed the next C63 is forced induction, but also mentioned eight cylinders. He also confirmed it would be two-wheel drive and have the electronic LSD seen on the SLS Black Series. Sounds like a complete weapon."
So there's Chris Harris confirming 8 cylinders and forced induction, per a conversation with Moers.

I'd be willing to make a friendly wager that the W205 C63 will have a 4.0L biturbo V8. Any takers?

All of the existing ///M cars are now turbocharged. Like it or not, that's the future.
I've had several 335i sedans (2 E90s and F30s). They were all turbocharged. They were lag-free and very tune-friendly.

I just edited my first response to include this source as well.
So I dunno if that's good enough proof for you but it is for me.

The E63 has a twin-turbo setup. The E63-S runs 11.5 1/4 miles bone stock (easily). I haven't heard much (if anything) about lag.

i've only driven older turbo'd cars (Japanse imports) nothing european so thats why...im sure a lot of the turbo lag is gone but what about spool time? i remember in my old 1jz it was gutless until 3500rpm

There is pretty much no lag in the new TT 5,5 I've drove them all.

All he is saying is imagine the power from a v8. It doesn't say anything about size, etc, speculation.
Now I am speculating that it's going to be a 4.6l TT.
