Dallas: Anyone doing USCA Event At Texas Motor Speedway?
Anyone doing the USCA Optima event at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend?
I am doing the event in my SLS BS. I have MY SLS and CLK in my rig, I will be at the track tomorrow morning. Hopefully there will be some other AMG power out there. Weistec guys flew into town tonight too for track support. I think they will have their stuff to do M156 tunes if anyone is interested.

Things appear pretty lax around here so you should have no trouble getting into the pit area so feel free to stop by my pit area to say hi or talk with the Weistec guys. Just look for my 50ft trailer with the Weistec and AMG vinyl on the sides, it's pretty hard to miss.

Cool! I would suggest Sunday if that works with your schedule, IMO SUnday will be the most exciting action. Saturday is autocross, slalom and 0-60-0 or 0-100-0. Sunday is the high speed stuff on the the road course. Today is just tech inspection, car show and road rally. There are some nice cars out here, should be some good competition.

I am headed to Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX to run the CLK tonight
58 degrees, dry and clear tonight, might be able to lay down a very low 9 second pass.

Would have loved to join you (and my other metroplex racing buddies) at TMS but I am leaving for Austin this morning to run on Circuit Of The Americas. They too are holding a 3 day event. I signed up for Sunday only. Both events on the same weekend = aaaarrrgh!
Post some vids of the TMS road course and I'll do the same for COTA! Have fun.

I made it out to the drag strip in Ennis last night. Made a few passes with the SLS and managed a 10.7 at 138. We also made a few passes witht he CLK although no 1/4 mile records were broke due to a couple minor technical difficulties the event was still a success and I saw some promising things on one clean launch with what I beleieve to be a world record 1/8 mile et and trap. It appears we finally have the suspension worked out.
It was great meeting a couple people from this forum as well, it's always nice being able to put a face with a screen name.
I did autocross and 0-60-0 out at the USCA event at TMS today, I had a decent showing but nothing to write home about, tomorrow is the big road course day were I hope to finish close to the top. The way this event is structured rewards consistancy, they award points for each event so the best all around car will win. There were some lightening fast little nimble autocross cars out there today but they will get absolutely demolished on the road course tomorrow so it keeps things interesting and competitive. I wil try to post an update tomorro after the event is complete.

Wow, you are really tearin' up Texas! As I drove south today on I-35 and passed the sign 'Texas Motorplex next exit' I thought of you and a high school buddy who travels around racing his drag bike.
jrcart - I asked a couple of my local buddies who are spending the weekend at the TMS events to stop by and say hello to you. Most of them will be in Boss 302's.

I made it out to Ennis to see these beasts in person. Awesome people and sick cars. The quality and craftsmanship of these cars is really unmatched. For still being street cars with full interiors and all that work done. It's crazy how flawless they are. The SLS had a hard time hooking with some bfg rival -road race tires, and the CLK didnt really get to make a clean pass - thats what happens with 1000whp + cars - they dont drive themselves.
here's a few pics i snapped. Our c63 wasnt hooking at all - duh 19" wheels - conti 5p's . Will definitely get some real tires and smaller wheels for next time.
Best run for wife and I was an 11.90X, best mph was 127.xx

Looks like fun. I would have come out, but the SL's ecu got back the day before from AMS and I didn't have time to put it on the dyno to check out the AFR etc. Had some work to do anyway so had to skip.

Can't believe I missed this! Great to have such sweet cars in town. Please post again when you are coming back as I'd love to see the cars in person. Gotta remember to check the boards more often!

I took 4th place overall in the USCA event out of close to 50 cars total and over 27 cars in my class. Looks like my autocross score cost me a chance at the overall win. I will be doing the USCA Daytona event in May. Daytona is a HP track and I have run hundreds of laps there on a motorcycle so I should fair quite well I hope.

My 2007 Mac is converting and processing some GoPro video which I will post when complete but I think I got a shorty ready . . . COTA is an amazing track.

Thanks for posting those vids. The SLS vs blue Mustang GT and the guys sitting on the wall shaking their heads afterwards is priceless lol.

Here's some footage from my day at COTA. I enjoyed gobbling up some M3's, and Audi's, and a Corvette. But we were all in the 'new to COTA' group so everybody gets to drive at their level of aggression. I sure did!
