That will probably throw a CEL for lean mixture my friend. Enough air will flow pass behind the MAF generating more air than measured! Et voila! P0171/174 pops up

I dunno how the tranny uses the MAF on this car for the MTC but on older 55 trannies it will also mess your shifting big time. I got so sick of it I bought a whole new airbox on the old AMG.

No charcoal filters on Aussie cars. The ROW air box is already on your car

If you get ROW air boxes and high flow filters should you get a retune?

Guys this a stock OEM part everywhere but the US. No retune, (should) no CEL, no drama.

Can anyone explain the reasoning behind the carbon filter? What does it do and why do only we get them but not Europe?

based on its purpose on other cars it is to trap emissions that can leak from the intake manifold. I believe its carb required now on these models to be extra stringent because we already have gas sucking monsters.

The idea behind this is to capture fuel vapor so it does not escape to the atmosphere when the engine is shut off.

The correct term for this device is a hydrocarbon trap. Do not know about the ones used on the 6.2L, but most manufactures use a mineral called zeolites. This captures the fumes on when the engine is not running and then once started the fresh are traveling over the carbon trap pulls the vapor from the mineral and it goes through the engine and is burned.

This is the reason you will see very few aftermarket air intakes that are CARB exempted. To be able to get an aftermarket intake CARB exempted, the vehicle with the intake has to pass a "shed test". The big joke here is that brand new completely stock vehicles can't pass a "shed test".

I have done dyno tests on other vehicle with before and after tests removing the carbon trap and so far I have not seen any difference on the dyno. Can't wait to try it on the C63.

You can get it cheaper at an online mb parts store. Search the forum for row airbox part number I put it there. They were also in stock.
