18" 285/35/18 for the rear tire

I need your help and fast...

the standard as you both know for the tire it's 255/30/ 18 0r 19"

I already have a 275/30/19 with my brand news bridgetone RE11 and my brand new wheel forgestar CF5V... nice looking guys.

so I'm looking for putting a news wheels and new tire but in 18" for Drag exclusively. and the guy offer me a great deal for some drag tire with 285/35/18 and this getting high of the +- 2% of tolerance cause of the 35 capacity.

My question if I use this for Drag. do I have anough torc to over tolerance the capacity of the car ???????? please help me on this issue

Your car has enough torque to spin the tires, but that's not the issue you should be concerned with. Your driveshaft is the weakpoint. There are numerous members on this board that have snapped their driveshaft from repeated launches after changing to sticky tires and launching from high stalls.

So that mean you don't recommend me to do it ? It's better to stay in the same size ?

Have done hundreds of 1/4 mile pass and never had issues with driveshaft! Getting 1.6x and even 1.5s 60 foots .
285 /35/18 only the nitto drag will work. If you want the best for 18s get your self some Mickey Timpsons 265/40/18. Will get u in low 1.7 60foot. Anything lower you will need 17s or 16s some have run 15s.

On the street you will be able to spin any tire u put on this car . Any tire that can fit under there that is.

You wont be breaking anything unless your car is just a wore out p.o.s. First thing you break will be the transmission but unless your pushing over 500wtq you'll be fine.

PetroC63 has broke at least 2 driveshafts before moving on to his CTS-V and another member here in Brooklyn broke his driveshaft too. I believe they both launched a few times from 3k RPM.

The only way u can launch at 3k is if you have a upgraded tq converter .
I think petro broke axles not drive shafts and the other guy u talking about has the 2012 with mct and if I remember correctly I was reading that he used race start and car hooked at 4k and snap.
Petro had Regular 7G trans like I do and I never heard of anyone braking drive shafts on preface lift c63's.
