Great question.

Some companies put a special additive into the initial oil fill and you are not supposed to change oil early on the first run. No idea if MB does that.

I have a new C63c and just 600 miles on it. I am thinking changing oil at 1000 just for GP unless there is a valid reason not to.

Anyone know???

I changed my oil and the rear diff fluid at 1200 miles. I am sure that is totally unnecessary and a waste of money, but it only cost $238...and hey, they washed the car. Honestly, I like changing the oil and other fluid a lot...for whatever reason, it is never money I regret spending. My wife thinks I am crazy, but I grew up with oil changes every 3,000 miles, so waiting 10,000 miles to change the oil is seems crazy to me. I am sure with new WAY tighter manufacturing and machining tolerances and WAY better oils that 10K intervals is fine, but I am just not quite there yet.

+1. I do an oil change every 1500-2000 miles. I drive my car hard usually, and it never hurts.

Don't remember where I read about it, and it might be a forum myth, but initially you should change your oil pretty often. I did a change at 2500km when I was done breaking in the car. And honestly it can't hurt, I'm sure most people on this forum are like myself and feel rather uncomfortable going too long without an oil change.

just over 9 quarts.

I do not believe their are additives as it relates to the initial oil fill. Typically you do the first oil change early as with new cars, especially during break in, there will be minute bits of metal and other crud from the build process. First oil change is the get that out.

Get off your wallet and just do it...it not just miles its also duration as well. That oil has been in there for a year....get it out and start fresh before the tune.

No probs dude....I was just breakin'em

I always like to do a fresh oil change before any mod. Gives you a clean slate and quick look into what your motor is doing, from the state of the old oil.
