Observations on IS F vs 2013 AMG and Some Questions Too
Happy Easter everyone,
I am the proud owner of a 2013 Polar White C63 AMG sedan with the P31 package, LSD, carbon fiber/Porcelain interior, and a bunch of other stuff. I traded in my '12 IS F for this machine and, really, it was worth it. So far with about 300 miles on the AMG, I find the torque to be incredible. It leaves the IS F far behind in this respect. The interior of the IS F was very nice with the controls easy to use and the front seat quite comfortable. The IS F tranny shifts very fast even when not in sport mode. I averaged 19.3 MPG as I drove it in manual once warmed up a bit. The IS F really handled well and the ride was much improved over earlier year models (I also had a CPO '09). I was not enamored of the digital fuel and oil temp. gauges though. I was constantly challenged by other cars and even some trucks but with the C63, no one yet has messed with me. It may be the exhaust note or the street cred of the C63. Now, I find that the C63 with the WCT shifts as fast as the IS F though I've yet to drive it in manual or sport mode due to the break in procedure. Also, the interior of the C63 is excellent in my view and the instrument panel is kind of retro with modern gauges and is also really cool in my eyes. Handling is on par with the IS F as I have taken the C63 on some of the twisties I had the F on at the same speeds and it is solid. So, all in all, the C63 is superior in my opinion though I still hold the IS F in high esteem. Only unknown is the reliability of the C63 vs the IS F and only time will tell. Now for my questions:
1. Is there a legal chip tune for the C63?
2. What is the real 0-60 time? Factory = 4.4 but most mag. tests say 3.8
3. Will 245/275s fit on the stock 18" wheels?
4. Will a chip tune void warranty?
Thanks in advance for any help with my questions.

2. Lots of conditions to consider: driver, terrain, weather, tire temperature. You're looking at closer to 4.4 for your average driver...4.0ish for more experienced drivers.
3. It's been done before. I'm sure you can search for it on the forums.
4. More than likely. Unless your dealership is super mod-friendly, which is rare.
Congrats on the new ride! Glad to hear you got rid of "wanna-be quad exhaust" Lexus.

1 and 4 are similar questions. All tunes will void your warranty from a technical point. Which means if you have a failure and it appears to be due to the ECU tune then MB will not cover the repairs. No matter if MB is tune friendly or not.
3- you can run 245/275 on stock 18/suspension no problem.

Congrats Stratman. I'm a lexus guy too. I have owned 3. I'm thinking about getting the blue RC F to compliment my black C63. I think I would have one sexy garage. I concur with everything TCT said.

Congrats and welcome to your new addiction
I actually had a little run in with a 2011 ISF today, friendly fun. The C63 pulls pretty easy on it. But they are nice cars none the less. Im curious to see what Toyota will do with the new ISF.

It certainly is a big question on what the next ISF is going to be like. Another big question is on Infiniti's Q50 Eau Rouge which reportedly will go into production. With the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 from the GTR as the power unit expected to pump out 560PS, The Q50ER is sure going to be quite a contender joining the C63/M3/ISF crowd. If Infiniti intends for the performance to be any where near the GTR, the crowd sure is doomed.

Guess I called it correctly about price of Q50ER.

"I would have to say in order to set expectations, we're probably looking at a $100,000 car. We are probably also looking at 250-500 units a year. So that's low volume. And we probably have, in terms of my current expectation, only a two-year life cycle."
