I would pass on this as I'm fairly sure that the music will be significantly compressed, even beyond what many of us accept as tolerable (like mp3 at 320KB/sec, for example). It sounds OK, but not the quality that you can get out of an MP3 player or iPod. That being said, if you don't care about the quality, bluetooth is darn convenient.

The Mercedes-Benz OEM iPod Interface Wiring Harness (5V) item # B67824531 is the correct part for your 2008 C-Class and iPhone 4/4S, iPod Touch and Apple products that require a 5V charge (will not work with iPhone 5).

Quality certainly can be worse if you're used to higher quality music. Some folks probably have lousy 128kb/s mp3s on their iPods/iPhones - for them, they shouldn't notice any difference if they have it connected directly via iPod connector or stream via Bluetooth. But for folks who listen to higher quality mp3s or even lossless music, flac, etc., the difference would be ridiculously noticeable. That's why I use an iPod cable. But for those folks who are happy with the Bluetooth - that's great. It is super easy to use, can be reliable (although mine is spotty for some reason), and convenient.

I have tune2air and honestly its the best $80 I spent on the car. I bought it after some other members here mentioned it, or else I would of never known about it. The signal strength is beyond powerful, music sounds excellent, easy to connect and install......made owning the car and driving it so much better.
I can't believe that little square changed my life.

Those that have blue tooth only have it for telephony, not for music. It's only for making and accepting calls. When you connect the tune2air, it connects your phone via Bluetooth (iPhone in my case) so that you can play music, pandora, etc AND accept/make calls. Get it. It will change your life. If your not 100% happy I will change my name to whatever you want...

I stream music from my phone to COMAND via Bluetooth all the time. It works great and the quality is no worse than most sources, for sure. The latest BT specs support 24 mbit/sec transfer, and my 2-year old phone works fine with COMAND 4.5.
Of course, older COMANDs don't stream music but recent ones sure do.

I don't think it would provide any better quality. All of my music files stream with no problem. Bits are bits. Either the Bluetooth connection has sufficient bandwidth to support transferring the encoded files or it doesn't. There's no provision for "lossy" transfer to save bandwidth in the Bluetooth protocol stack. I haven't found any music file that it can't handle yet. I really think wired connections are now obsolete.

BMW's connectivity system is much more effective than MB's. The cable that came with my C63 had to be positioned just right in the armrest to get it to work correctly. Eventually it just gave out. From that point on, I opted for the Bluetooth streaming so I could continue to use my phone as well (if need be).

As I mentioned above, the wired connection provided by MB, which I used for a while before getting my iPhone 5s, was really bad. In my BMWs, I just used the USB cable that came with my iPod/iPhone devices. And it worked flawlessly.
Is there a new cable or adapter for the iPhone 5s? The only thing I miss is the ability for discreet charging in the armrest.

Sorry, can't help there. My phone is Android and it uses a standard USB cable. The USB socket in the center console charges it just fine. Your weird cable is just another better idea from Apple.

Wait. Isn't there a iPhone to USB charging cable available for a few bucks? If so, get one and use the USB socket.
