2013 C63 AMG Developer Package
Return these tires or okay to have mounted?
Hi guys. New to the forums...
I have a 2013 C63 AMG with the Developer package.
I just ordered new tires for the car. UPS delivered them the other day, Wednesday, during a rain storm. Left them outside.
Got home later and saw them out there, brought them in the garage. Shook them out to get the bulk of the water out.
I haven't had them mounted yet because I wanted them to be completely dry. I turn them over a few times to shake more water out. Today, saturday, I just took each one and wiped the interior with a rag to get the remaining water out that was able to be soaked up by the rag. I just put them downstairs in the basement next to the dehumidifier so they are in a dry place.
The air is a bit damp lately in NJ to evaporation didn't happen as quick as I am used to. Very dry during the winter, but not now.
I know I can call the merchant and just return the tires no problem, but I really don't feel like doing this. It's a pain and a delay.
I am reading articles and blogs about water causing rust to the steel belts, etc.
Should I worry about this or do you think okay to have mounted?
I can't imagine that I am the first person to have tires delivered in the rain.
The tires are the OEM Continentals that came on the car.
Thanks!

You're fine, mount them

Shouldn't make any difference
Just let them dry out
Air has a typical relative humidity of 45-50%
Even higher if filled when raining
If it bugs you see of they can fill with N2
It has much less moisture

Some use it from bottle which is dry and pure
Some have on site generators dry but not as pure
Edit generators can be 99%+
This issue is the tire has air in it before you even begin to fill it
No way to purge other than fill and drain a few times
A tire has 1 atm or ~15 psi before filling
If you fill to 45 you have 3 parts pure and 1 part air
If the air is 78% and the N2 is 99 the concentration will be almost 94% N2

Thank you for all the replies!
I will just wait until they are as dry as possible and then take them to the tire shop for mounting.
Glad to hear it isn't an issue...
I think some of the stuff I read was speaking to long term storage and flood waters...

Not to mention the steel has no business showing on a new tire so you have no issues there either.

Rubber cant absorb water though.

nitrogen is pointless. Yes the molecules are slightly larger so less may leak out overtime, and it's not as reactive to pressure vs temperature but these are factors that in the big picture aren't important and have no gain.
let them dry, they'll be fine.

It would not be the most pointless thing people do to cars around here
And far cheaper
