How to drift a C63?

What do you need exactly?

Is it just the car + experienced drifter?

How is it done?

Trying it on snow first makes it a lot easier and safer. Not to mention it's less expensive in tires .

Manual mode or the car will sometimes upshift on its own.

1) Throw car into corner sideways
2) Opposite Steer
3) Stay on Gas
4) Pull into parking lot and enjoy a cold beverage

It's a stupid question like, "How do I ride a bicycle?" or "How do I ski?"

"What is a drift?" is not a stupid question. But going from "intentional oversteer to the point of loss of rear traction, with control recovered using the application of power" to "tell me what to do" is a dangerous step.

This is not a technique you "learn" on the internet. You learn it on a skidpad where you can't damage yourself or others, ideally with an instructor. Or you learn it when you're 17, like many of us did, doing really stupid stuff on the street. But few of us had adults giving them instructions by remote control.

I still remember the time I entered a sweeping highway ramp at 80+ in my S65 with a perfect drift. Getting that car to oversteer took some real technique because it was so nose-heavy. But once it broke traction it was easy to get it pointed again and power through the apex. It was just so unexpected to see a big S-class doing it. My wife and a nephew of hers were in the car. I'm now a hero to the nephew and that generation but almost got divorced. It was worth it.

haha, nice story. technically, it would be easier to get a front-heavy car sideways (without any driver aids).

I dunno. Even with the ABC, it plowed when you pushed it. It was like, "you want me to do what?" It took some pretty violent steering to trick it into loosening the rear grip. But with 738 ft-lbs, reengaging the road was pretty easy.

I used to call it a Stupid Mercedes Trick.

gotcha. my bad, i should have been more specific ... it is easier to induce oversteer in a front-heavy car under braking.

Got it. My first car was a Porsche 356, so I never brake.

Not to rain on your parade but isn't this more power over? U apply gas then let go then apply gas again to continue it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

yes. you basically want to upset the balance of the car. so a combo of snapping out of the gas and mashing the gas with steering input works. the formula d guys have hand brakes on the rears that they use as well. and please, don't refer to FD as racing! lol.

preferably dyno mode, manual mode for trans, limited slip is definitely a plus and alot of practice or skill. What you saw in the video above is pretty much just a donut not real drifting. Lol 65's drift great, all benz's with enough power do the turn angle is fantastic from the factory which helps. You were just under the influence of thinking esp off is really "off".

"You don't have three-wheel brakes, so you got to pitch it hard, break it loose and then just drive it with the throttle. Give it too much, you'll be outta the dirt and into the tulips...If you goin' hard enough left, you'll find yourself turnin' right."

For whoever said its a "stupid question" please show some respect. If you don't want to answer the question then get the hell out of here. I know its learnt by practice, but nothing is wrong with asking. I am not a type of person who just throws himself and an expensive car and start seeking what has to be done. I am used to see my friends drifting with their cheep cars with pulling out their hand break. So please again, I do respect each individual in this forum because I know everyone here cares as a family. Thanks for those who answered me.

Thanks for the input but I meant what the guy in the video was doing lol, drifting to my understanding is constant throttle input and gently letting off the gas but not completely off and of course counter steering. The video it seemed he let off the gas completely at points and then he mashes it again to get the rear to step out i was asking if it was power sliding as it does not seem like he was drifting

Yeah ok right you can shut up now. I'm tired of seeing all your stupid threads about a C63 that you're never gonna buy.
