anyone ran Sumitomo HTR Z III

Just came across these tires on tire rack and looks like they have good rating. Super cheap at $680 for a set of 4 in 19s. I'm not the type to usually cheap out on performance parts, but I plan on doing alot of track days this summer so I dont want to burn through expensive tires too quickly. Wonder if anyone has used them and if you have feedback on the performance of these tires?

If these perform well they may be a good option for those of us who go through tires quickly.

Sumitomo HTR Z III

thanks!

I ran these on my 350z back in 05 and got about 2000 miles out of them.

2000 miles! LOL! I saw it has the same treadwear as the PSS too so I thought it was gonna last around the same lmao. I have 10k on my pss now and a couple track days and they still have some tread left...

Very soft. Z's are notorious for bad alignment issues but they were spent regardless of inner tread wear. I may have got 4-5k out of them had the insides not wore premature.

I've put 5500 miles on mine and they have plenty of tread left, but I don't drive crazy either. I also had these on my 335i, which I did drive hard, and they performed very well for the price. I don't know how they held up though because I sold the car with about 2K mi on the tires.

The HTR ZIII is a great value tire. I've had experience with the tire on a S2000, W211 E55, BMW X3 and my C63. They offer pretty good performance - certainly adequate for street driving but not in the same league as something like the Pilot Super Sport.

I had them on this.
Front 255/35R20
Rear 285/30R20
I got about 15,000 miles of city driving on them.
I thought they were good value for the price.
Good budget performance.

no fair we need those in america. so badass.

Also let me add. Treadwear is tire manufacturer dependent. It's not universal between brands like speed ratings. for example I could make my own tire and have it be r-compound and say 800 tread wear that lasts 100miles. I could also make one thats harder than a rock that lasts 80k miles and put 100 tread wear on it. That number really only applies to that one brand.

I've had 3 sets for the rear, I get 6,000 - 8,000 out of them.

good value for the $$, thought they do get a little loud when worn.
