507 OEM hood parts

I'm still looking to get an OEM 507 hood in the next 2 weeks, and I can't seem to get any direction as to what all parts need to be ordered for this conversion. (Yes, I made another thread about this a couple weeks ago, but it quickly derailed into a thread about Mode Carbon's new hood, which I'd buy, but it won't be ready in time).

I went into the dealership today, and was told they couldn't look up part numbers without a VIN from a 507, so I found a VIN number for one online, and the guy still wasn't much help. He gave me the part number for the hood itself, and the insulation liner thing. But I've heard that there are more parts besides that for a 507 hood conversion.

Can ANYONE possibly help me out with this?

so far I have:
204-880-13-57 - Hood
204-682-12-26 - Insulation

There was thread where a parts diagram picture was attached

It was suggested to join epc, it's free, and with the vin you can print out all the PN's for the 507

You can then do the same for your car and Cross off all the common parts

Take the remainer to the dealer

Yeah, the dealer pulled up that same diagram, though it doesn't actually show a 507 hood in the diagram, and he seemed fairly clueless.

What is epc?

The hood can be ordered from the AMG Performance Studio which presumbably means it has all parts and an install guide for the dealer. See Page 10 of the catalogue below.

Although I wouldn't want to pay that price!

Cheers

The hood's 3500 EUR price seems reasonable when you look at other options prices. 2900 EUR for painted chrome trim, 3900 EUR for painted calipers. At least they are consistently overpriced.

I subscribed the EPC and spent the morning figuring out how to navigate it, and came up with a parts list for a 507 hood conversion. All the standard hood components (except for the standard hood itself) appear to be part of the 507 hood parts list. I have marked what parts are needed in addition for a 507 conversion.

I was able to find all these parts on www.ecstuning.com at a discount for just under $3k USD. Much better than the dealership cost where they wanted to charge 3500 for JUST the hood itself.

I gotta ask. Is this hood going to end up costing you over $5000?

See my comment above. I found all the OEM parts for a hood conversion for just under $3k shipped. Depending on how much you pay for installation labor and getting it painted, I doubt it'll be 5k.

So buddy,

Thats all what we need to upgrade our hood to the 507 right?
Now is buying them from Germany from a dealer would be cheaper than buying it in U.S. for instance?

Don't misunderstand. Not trying to chastise.

With a purchase like that, would it make sense for you to hunt down a 507? For the full effect. I'm just working with my own thought process. If I was willing to throw down 4k to put a 507 hood on my car, I would consider taking that investment and parleying it into a 507 for maximum enjoyment. Although you have a 13....recent purchase,

Would it make sense? Not even slightly! haha

I looked into a 507 when I purchased this C63 (it's my 2nd one). The difference between the 2014 507, and a 2013 P31, is pretty insignificant (it's pretty well accepted/documented that they are likely the same as far as the stock ECU tune, horsepower, etc goes). And I got mine for a wayyyy better deal than a 507 would have cost since they were trying to get the 2013's off the showroom floor.

Less than 4k to do a hood conversion seems to make a lot more sense financially than getting an actual 507. The cost of my car brand new + this hood, still cost less than a new 507 would have cost me

Hey mate, hope you have been well.

Apologies on bringing up an old forum thread.

Just wanted to ask what are your thoughts on the 507 hood insulator as I'm currently sourcing the parts now and am contemplating if it's a necessary part or can we do without it?

Cheers,

Aaron

Totally unnecessary. Either cut two holes in the one you already have, or ditch it completely.

cheers dude.

also the body shop also suggests to also repaint the front bumper and two side front fenders for paint matching, do you think its worth doing this route, or just painting the bonnet only.
I can't imagine that there would be a a large difference between the two?

There will always be slight variances between resprayed colors on paint that's been sitting for a while, especially metallics. Blending helps to eliminate that. I would say pay a bit more and let them blend it so it all matches.

If still unsure, talk to a couple of other places and see what they would recommend.
