I have put a little 12" in mine. Did it in my ML63 and E63 too.
Very easy to do in our cars. I also put the same 12" in my friends C63 and M3.
Very easy to hook up into our cars. 1hr MAX job.
For our cars just need a low pass filter or an amp with it built in.
Need an amp and sub (obviously)
And an amp wiring kit.
Takes seriously no more than an hour. Easy DIY job.
I have put it up in the forum with pics. Just have a quick search under my username or search subwoofer.
I would post a link but I'm on my mobile at the moment.

I've had full systems in pretty much every single car I've owned, in fact that's the first thing I've always done. But honestly, I really don't see the point in messing with this cars system, especially if you have the Harmon Kardon set up. I think that is absolutely redundant and if anything putting aftermarket system in might just ruin the original top quality system our cars come with it. I suppose putting just a sub in wouldn't be end of the world, but personally someone like me who loves crazy bass, I've never felt it missing from this car. It's plenty and sounds awesome. Or perhaps I am just getting older I guess.
Just for old memories, here is what I had in the 350Z back in the day, with 2 DVD screens and everything..
Everything hidden under the trunk mat.
And here is the car...miss it sometimes! Lots of time and effort on it.

I am thinking about upgrading the Harmon Kardon on my car
in fact I have to disagree with most people
the Harmon Kardon system we have is very *****ty, I have Harmon Kardon on my previous BMWs and they were better, my brothers B&O on his Audi was also way better
the one we have lack fidelity, it has lots of bass but no power
anyway that said
I am looking into upgrades as well
has anyone based on the original set up, upgraded the system
I am thinking about MB Quart speakers in all 4 doors, then a small sub in place of the original one but not sure if it is possible
I want to keep the factory look as much as possible
also would swaping the center speaker in front of the screen and the two rear tweeter do much?
