On the Road Again
Off on a three-week road trip. First day was loads of fun. We drove CA-128 through the Anderson Valley and redwood forests to CA-1 on the coast at beautiful Mendocino. The road has some world-class twisties and sweeps, and most of it was pretty empty. At one point I pulled up behind a pretty tricked-out Mustang GT and we made a play date out of the rest of the drive.
I was in C but dropped into S+ when he started to accelerate. Man, the sounds the C63 made! Lots of blipping downshifts when 75 MPH straights turned into twisties. One sweep to the left ended in a hairpin. I don't know how you do these roads without the GPS showing you what's coming up and that you will have to lose about 50 MPH right now.
Anyway, double gear blipping downshifts punctuated with what had to be little bursts of fire from the tailpipes. The sounds were magnificent.
And my wife was a real champ too. Never said a word.

I bought my car in Sacramento and drove it home to Portland from Reno (stupid CA delivery/tax rules). Drove quite a bit of the way on the backroads thru CA. Great to have the first few experiences with the car on roads like that.
