Saw something recently about that. Something like $14,300 Euro on ebay for the swap.

Can someone explain what is going on here? SLS intake is replacing the standard C63 intake? I presume for HP/TQ gains? What is that ugly blue cover doing though?

Waste....I looked into doing this mod about three years ago, I even installed SLS cams in my CLK BS. Net gains did not warrant cost of mod. You can do a Weistec Stage 1 for less than the cost of this mod.

This guy has done it:

Big claims, but looks like some surgery required, so not sure about 8k figure quoted on that thread.

you'd see hp gains up top, but torque would drop. This intake works great on the sls since it weighs 3500lbs and a very efficient transmission/lightweight driveline . In a heavy sedan the loss of torque would make the car feel sluggish for regular driving.

I'm always curious, could you please explain to me why the torque would drop?

Somebody claimed that ad on ebay was a scam!!!
Either way for the price of a stage 3 I would go supercharged!

short fat runners are for higher rpm power. long slim runners are for low rpm torque. The stock c63 intake manifold has flaps to change runner size, vacuum controlled by a solenoid to switch when necessary. The sls has a fixed runner size not to mention alot more plenum volume which is also for topend. The guts of it actually look really badass.

Ever consider getting some custom cams from Crower or Comp? You're one of the few that pushes the envelope. I wonder what, if any, is left on the table in the valve train department.

Thanks. I was confused because I thought the only change was that blue cold air inlet. So this mod includes a new intake manifold. Very interesting. And it sounds like the stock intake manifold with the long runners that are engaged at lower rpms would be a much better design for the street.
