Wheel/Tire and Suspension Question

Interested in these rims http://www.mhtwheels.com/mht-luxury-...el.cfm?id=5336 Yes I know they're cast but they have a good reputation. My first question is will the specs below look good - get me close to flush but won't have to worry about rubbing?

19x8.5 42et
19x9.5 50et

Second what size tires should I run? I'm not lowered but considering it which brings me to my third question. I'm only going lower if there is a spring less aggressive than H&R. I haven't seen any other options for springs.

I don't want coilovers not tracking the car.

edit 1: I see H&R springs advertised as lowering the car 1.2 - 1.8 inches and .75 front and rear. Are there two different H&R springs for the c63? I would be happy with .75 drop not 1.5.

edit 2: H&R's site says Sport Spring is .75 .75 and Street Perf. Coil Over is 1.2 - 2.3. Anyone with H&R's springs have an idea how much they actually lowered your car? Some pics I see the car sits really low.

Thanks!

Assuming you wioll run 295 30 19 on the rear then 19 x 9.5 ET50 should be fine with that size.

There are people here running 19 x 9.5 ET 45/48. Plenty running 19 x 10 ET 52 and lowered (that said a I get an occasional tiny rub with 19 x 10 ET 52 275/30 not lowered however I think it is the small splash shield fitted to the rear gaurds on mine).

Not running H&R springs myself, buy my understanding is the drop is 0.75 front and rear, but then you do have the option of running larger/smaller spring pads in addition to tweak this drop a bit. Bottom line I'd suggest you get the wheels/tires if you've decided on them, and then evaluate the drop option. I got a great wheel/tire set, installed them, and I'm pretty sure based on feeling around the wheels that I couldn't even do a 0.75 drop without rubbing now, the fitment is so close.

If you want to be flushed just do:

8.5X19 ET40 front (even ET35 will be ok)
10x19 ET48 Rear
That is my settings.

At stock height no rubbing.
With H&R springs (by the way there is only one type of H&R springs for the C63) I was rubbing on the rear passenger side only on big bumps or road imperfection because of the battery weight. When I switch and installed Braille 21lbs i wasn't rubbing anymore.
On coilovers (which is the best way of lowering the car) I'm not rubbing. The advantage of coilovers even if you don't track the car you have the flexibility of adjusting height, compression and rebound to your liking. It is worth the money.

I have the same wheels on my car just in gun metal. And lowered the car with the .75 .75 springs and a thicker spring pad in the rear to make it even.
The 1.2 -1.8 drop spring don't exist for the c63.

I'm running 265 on the rear you can go at least with 285's

I'm happy with the set up just would like to have the front .25 lower.

Thanks so much for all the feedback and pics it has helped a lot. sventastic82 do you have any more pics of your car? Did your car feel any slower after you put those rims on because they are fairly heavy.

Wow they look good! And u will be ok with h&r springs w/o rubbing on 265/30/19. If u go 275/30/19 u rub occasionally on the passenger rear depending on the tire brand.

As for flushness, ur rear will be nice. But the front won't be flush unless u use 5-10mm spacers.

Just wish they were not so heavy. I'm planning on PSS which I think run wide. I really want 275's but may occasionally have people in the back so I don't want to rub. I settled on H&R springs with 17mm pad in the rear. Do you still think I will rub in this scenario? Also can I get away with 245 in the front?

I have h&r springs with the 17mm pads & was rubbing with my old HRE wheels 19x9.5 +50 & 275/30/19 Hankook V12.

Surprisingly, I switched to my new P40SC 19x10 +50 & 275/30/19 PSS .. No more rubbing.

I think the stretched 275 on the 19x10 is helping vs the square 275/30 on 19x9.5.

As for the front, I was running 245/35 on 19x8.5 +41 & 19x9 +40 no rubbing on both set-up.

Thanks for all the feedback I have one more scenario.

I'm between the Niche rims and Forgestar CF10. I have two small kids 2yrs old that will be in the back seat sometimes. Do you think the specs below will be OK with no rubbing or should I go with a 9.5 rim in the rear? If you have a better suggestion please let me know.

I ordered full IPE exhaust and tune so I want to keep a 275 tire if possible.

Forgestar CF10
19x8.5 et40 - 245/35 PSS
10x19 et50 - 275/30 PSS

Im also considering the CF10's for my C350 Coupe so my question is, are the offsets and wheel sizes pretty much the same for both the C350 coupe and the C63?

You should be good. I had my wife and 2 kids (4yo and 7yo) in the car while on H&R springs and I was occasionally rubbing the rear passenger side on bumpy roads.

Awesome thanks.

The shop I intended to do the work just quoted me $400 to install springs and said it would take 11hrs. I've installed springs before and it was a couple hour job. Does it really take that long and if so why is it so involved?

11 hours is too much!!
I installed mine and took my time the first time and it didn't take me 11 hours. Maybe 5hrs.
The second time when I installed my KW it took me 3.5 hours roughly. I knew exactly what to do and which socket/tool to use so it was a lot faster.

$3-400 sounds about right. It's definitely a good deal if an alignment is included. But they are probably just overestimating the time so you aren't disappointed if it doesn't take 3 hrs. It also makes you budget for a full day and just drop it off.

^^ this, 300-400$ is the average price to install springs. If they take 11 hours to install them, let it be as long as the price is fixed. Lol

I replied to ur PM, as abcut said u will be ok for normal driving.. But will rub occasionaly on the passenger rear if u load the trunk & have the whole family on the back seat.
