Engine oil leaks at 50k

Hey guys. I just bought a 08 c63 with approximate 50k milage. Today, got my buddy-professional mechanic, check out my car. Opened up the lower panel and found out the oil leaks( upper and lower seals). First Mercedes, kind of disappointed.

I too have a leak with 34k. Mine is leaking from the oil pan gasket where you drain the oil. Very easy to get to. Just haven't gotten around to change it yet. My buddy's E92 M3 is leaking oil also from the valve cover gaskets with 44k. Not just Mercedes.

Not entirely sure what you're going for here... Just a story or asking for help?

All cars leak. Have you ever been under a bmw? If one of my past BMW's wasn't leaking I'd be worried.

Any idea where the leak is? Probably an easy fix and off you go... No reason to be disappointed.

The leak is more of an annoyance than a true mechanical problem. Both of my G37's leaked. One from the drain pan and the other from the oil drain plug. Both cars always ran like a champ and never gave me a single mechanical problem. I just had to watch the oil level a little closer.

i always find it baffling how luxury cars and high end sports cars leak oil when none of the cheaper cars i've owned ever did.

guess thats just part of the cost to ride with the big boys.

Do u want a pat on the back?

Did you sign up to whine about your 8 year old car you bought that has an oil leak? Get it fixed.

Mercedes, Ferrari, gmc, Kia, a seal is a seal they can go bad and wear down.

Very true, and with seals its more about age than mileage.

The fact is 6 years young and I also owned a E46 M3 and a 997. Both of them are in good health

No leaks here. Guess I got a dud.

Any chance the place where you bought it may do something for you?

^Glad to hear.

On a recent purchase, that would bother me as well.

I'm contacting MB to see if I can get one that leaks like it should. (Jkng)

*I've had 3 and never an issue. I have confidence in the brand. You've got a good car there.

According to my service manager oil pan gasket leak is very common. However as it is often nothing more than a seepage of oil, only visible when the plastic shields are removed, they just "keep an eye on it" and reassess at each service.

All gaskets will eventually leak/weep
If that is the residue from 7 years and 50k miles that is actually good
Power wash it
Monitor oil level closely
Inspect it every oil change
See how bad it really is

The build date on you car is probably in 2007 so it's over 7 years old most likely
Looks like the previous owner abused the car
It will frag in 3 months and 1 day

Honestly all cars will eventually leak as others have stated. My BMW has has multiple oil leaks in it's lifetime and I haven't fixed any of them. As long as it's not leaking on the driveway and you're not losing a lot of oil they're not really a problem IMO.

So many debates that end up in a circular firing squad. Wish there was more camaraderie in appreciating the performance division of the brand and less back handed swipes at brothers who simply disagree.

Gotta love the internet...

Kind of hard to do when his first post ever is griping about the marque?
Nadda about the performance, sound, history, etc
Only about oil stains and his disappointment?
No pic of the car, only oil stains, I can't tell what kind of car it is?

Should have had the 'professional mechanic' PPI it BEFORE purchase lol
Isn't auto repair more of a trade than profession? Not denigrating it, just saying...imo the world has a shortage of tradesmen and craftsmen
