M156 head bolt data poll
In search of some data I submit this poll
Please respond to the poll ONLY if you are in the affected range
If in doubt use MY's 2010 (inclusive) and older as a guideline
Do not make any additional posts ( only post if you had a failure) tia
If you have NOT had a failure only select your mileage from the poll
If you HAD a failure select HEAD BOLT FAILURE
Do so only if you know for certain a bolt(s) were broken: picture, personally observed or an invoice
For those who experienced a failure please ALSO make a post with only the following:
Mileage
Number of bolts failed (if known)
Cost of repair
MB contribution (if any)
Engine modifications (if any)
Attach invoice or pictures
Omit any info you are not comfortable sharing

Mods: might be helpful if made a sticky and cross linked to all forums with cars using the M156

I want to keep it clean and simple to generate a database

No Mods
Just out of Warranty
Water in both banks so at least 2 bolts failed.
My contribution about $2K
MB contribution $25K of parts (yes 25,000) and some labour.
New Pistons, Rings, all bearings and nearly everything else

What was the total?
Please post the reciept or pictures of the broken bolts
One on each bank would be rare

2 bolts failed
Drastic coolant loss was first sign
no money out of pocket; warranty covered
occurred at 47k miles
no modifications
no early warning
bolts, gaskets, lifters replaced
now at 97k miles and no further problems
