Too many ads!
#26
I hate how the ads render, specifically. On ipad, after the page loads and you scroll down for a few seconds to find a thread you like, the way it's timed is the ad loads just as you are most likely to click a new thread, so when you go to click it, the page shifts down now that the ad is rendered at the top, and you click the wrong thread.
like the screenname...today you will call me mr. breaker.
as to tracking cookies, it's annoying I try to turn off as much as I can and still make my browsing easy. turning off all cookies, etc sometimes is too inconvenient.
there is also another search engine that doesnt track searches duckduckgo

That's what happens when greedy Internet Brands buys something.
It's very easy to get rid of regular ads with chrome and firefox, all you have to do is install AdBlock:
Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...biglidom?hl=en
Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir.../adblock-plus/
For forum sponsors spammers, like Vivid Racing etc... it gets a little bit harder... just ignore them.

Just my opinion, but if you install ad block and use it on sites like this, you just suck. These sites are usually owned by enthusiasts that pay out of pocket for servers, etc. They recoup costs based on ads.
Using ad blockers prevents them from earning revenue.
I can understand using it on larger sites like NBCNews, etc.
Who does this site benefit? You! Why not support it.
Also, I believe OP was talking about all the vendor postings, not the actual banner ads.

If adblock actually cost money, I would pay for it to block the ads.
And yeah, I think he was talking about vendor postings, as one vendor just did where they bumped all of their threads to the top.....that's what we find more annoying.

I figure it makes the sandbox free to play in. I don't know of another AMG forum that is as diverse. Someone has to get paid for the work put in and the hosting.
I laugh when I see the Russian "Dating" service.

Why, that's where I get all my "girlfriends"? I hope I just don't end up being found floating in a river someday, my bank accounts drained, and my C63 shipped off to God knows where.
As far as using Adblock "sucking", look, if there weren't 60% of the forum's "threads" that are actually just ads, then I wouldn't even have written this thread. I'm just looking for a decent balance of content, and it's a little out of whack IMO.

I hate seeing 30 of the stupid same AD when I look at new posts.
One. Per. Forum.
Really? Like I never, ever, in a million years would guess that I could get those same wheels for C63, a CLS65, and even an E350. Good thing you spammed up all the forums just to make sure I don't overlook it.
I have no problem with vendors promoting their products.. but how about putting it in the buy / sell area or a special forum for special offers? I'm sure I'd go look when I want to buy something, and I won't be as predisposed to AVOIDING a spammy vendor if they.... wait for it... aren't spammy.

They are everything but 'enthusiasts'. You have no idea how much money this kind of forum generates.

I guess what we are all asking from the Vendors on here are:
1) Don't overload the forum with sales items
2) Post them in the classified or vendor forum
3) Only post when you actually have a real deal for us
4) Just post that real deal as is, price right there in the post so we don't have to PM for "special" pricing

Maybe there should be like 2-4 allotted "sticky" vendor threads, and they could rotate. The vendors all pay in one way or another (I assume), so they could bid, yada yada. Then for those us who are interested in keeping up on mod offers, we'd have these rotating forum threads to check if we want, and for those of us not currently interested, we wouldn't have to wade through the current blather of regurgitated ad fodder. Just a thought.

Sales = temporary special deals on current items (but only in their own "territory", which does not include "the entire internet").
clearances = mark downs to get rid of discontinued items (not sure about territorial restrictions on clearances).

Generally retailers are allowed to advertise sales, and clearances (not sure about territorial restrictions on clearances). Sales = temporary special deals on current items (but only in their own "territory", which does not include "the entire internet"). clearances = mark downs to get rid of discontinued items (not sure about territorial restrictions on clearances).
in the end, though, we can always just choose not to read the vendor for sale threads, just like I don't bother to read the endless new posts about brake pad replacement suggestions, how wide of a tire size can I get without rubbing, and spacer sizes.

This is what I'm talking about... so many of the same stupid post that you can't even find the new posts. Why even have a new posts feature if its just going to be choked out with spam??

The first page seems to consistently hover around 40% ad content (i.e., 20ish of 50 non-sticky threads are ads). I counted once a week or so ago and IIRC it was a hair short of 50%. It does seem to be as bad as it's ever been. No one here should feel guilty about using an ad-blocker though. Without our reader/user-contributed content this forum would be worth exactly $0.00.
