I think people get to caught up in defending their cars I love my c63 and won't be selling it but let's give credit where it's due. This sounds amazing for a turbo car and blows away anything from BMW or audi ! It also sounds a lot better then the m157. These turbo cars might not have the raw visceral scream of the m156 but they also have other unique noises like turbo spool and Blow off valve ! Add some CAtless downpipes and it will be insane

This is a great sound for a 4.0L TT. Almost makes me wondering if it is a turbo engine. Let's hope the new C63S would get the same exhaust note.

sounds great, but it looks like it's in a friggin' mall so the acoustics will be all jacked up. I bet it will still sound great outside, but there is a helluva lotta echo in that mall space that tweaks the sound a bit, IMO.

Turbo's are prime candidates for backfires. And any high power turbo engine will.
The exhaust housing on the turbo is superheated on a high performance engine, and retains heat better then headers/catalysts. Some cars can even make the cast iron glow.
Because of this when unburnt fuel touches the exhaust housing it will instantly detonate.
The fact our NA V8's backfire is a true statement as to how powerful they are, really.

It's technically called after-fire
Back-fire takes place in the intake system when unspent fuel is ignited when the intake valve opens and allows O2 in or ignites before the intake valve is closed
When the engine is rev'ed, the throttle is depressed, the fuel rate is ramped up
When abruptly let off the throttle shuts quickly but the control system lags a bit and over-fuels for a few revs
This extra fuel is not consumed and passes out the exhaust and reignites when it get mixed with O2 and contacts hit components like the catalysts, turbos, headers or hot exh gas from other cylinders
