Anybody go from E55 to C63 or C63 to E55 ? Comparisons?

I love the E55 but I was thinking to get something to a bit newer and different feel...Although the raw nature of the E55 is hard to beat.*

Anybody do this switch? Thoughts on all aspects?*

Or anybody with both cars that can chime in? I know there are a few members with both cars. ..

Thank you

own a c63, almost bought e55's a few times. Drive both on a regular basis. The C body is naturally much smaller (backseat leg room), much stiffer and tighter car. It's really the first car amg actually put performance ahead of luxury. Not that this is probably too important to you but MPG's will be almost identical. The c63 motor is polar opposite of the e55. The e55 is all about that instant torque off idle acceleration. The c63 isnt a terd down low but doesnt compare. As the motor winds up it pulls much harder top end and doesnt stop, where the 55 seems to feel like it's running out of boost/efficiency. The other big difference is the gearing and 7spd trans. The 5 speed is a bullet proof tank and pretty much gets to 100mph in 2nd gear but it is very unresponsive and sluggish. The 7spd has throttle blips, is way more responsive and shifts to get you in the power band when needed. The suspension is hardly comparable. While the e55 handles great and has double wishbone but it feels like a whale compared to the C63 (inferior macpherson front end but way stiffer). Everyone will tell you to get a p30/performance package car but the spring/shocks can be alot harsher than desired for most. Specially previous amg owners that arent used to this hardcore side. If you really want the ultimate get a weistec supercharger kit like my car has. Gives you the best of both worlds. Instant torque/power at low rpms and even better top end.

c63
Yup... had a 04 e55 and now have a 13'c63... mpg is definitely same... c63 is much more nimble although much smaller... transmission is much improved in the c63.... e55 is the car that broke me in with amg's and i still love that car...you would be very happy with either...

06 E55 AMG, 13 C63 AMG
I have both, 06 E55 and a 13 C63 P31 Coupe with the LSD.

If I had to loose one and keep the other I would keep the E55.

Love them both, but overall I like the E55 better. The C63 is awesome and lots of fun to drive and throw about, but it is small, hard for me to get in and out of and not as comfortable on long drives.

I would say that the trans is much more fun on the C63.

As far as the C63 not being as snappy down low, that is all in the tuning and engine control. That engine has some serious torque management to keep you from just blowing through the tires. Turn off the traction control and you are all over the place.

Does sound cool on WOT shifts and the manual down shifts.

I have been thinking of trading them both in for a CLS63 4-Matic S Model.
