2010 c63 (p31) w/LSD
My p31 has an lsd and I have never driven a c63 without an lsd, so while I cannot answer your question directly I can tell you this. When I was shopping for a c63 I was told it was the one option I had to buy to make the car more enjoyable and drivable. I was actually told by one former owner to buy a base with lsd over a p31 without, luckily I got one with both though in the end. It was a rare and expensive option but apparently it is worth it so I guess the answer is find one with it.

Yep worth it.
After two snowy days, I have no real trouble going through snow (I have Hakka8 studded).
In warm weather it hooks a bit better. But the best is to be able to control drift better (if you like those things).
Coming from a S5? Get a LSD. After market wavetrack is about 1000$ and cost me around 500$ to have it installed.

ford svt's, and C63!!!
I have a non lsd car, ans with the mods so far, it has not yet done a one wheel peel outa the hole at the eighth mile strip we go to. The traction is surprisingly pretty good. The way I see it is, if it ever becomes a problem, I'll put one in it.

No, Not a game changer. Find the one you like and if you plan to drive in snow or track the car it's just a matter of having a LSD unit installed.
It really comes down to your situation.
Do you live in a climate that gets snow? If so do you plan to drive a C63 in the snow.
Are you going to track run the car?
If your in a warm climate and have no plans to track the car but want a very nice daily or weekend driver adding LSD will not offer much improvement.

With a diff wheel speed or slick surface it is

1500$ is a rip off. It's a 6-8h job max. Even at 100$/h it's still a 800$ job top.
Small performance shops are often used to changing diffs and are usually quite good. In my area there are at least 3 or 4 performance shops I'd trust with my car.
MB will charge a lot and your car might be the first time they do it.

Way i see it anything that can help traction is good, mines got stock lsd and ive gotten the wheels to slip taking a hard fast turn
My truck has lsd and has been big in the rain particuarly on an uneven road

Jeff - can you elaborate? What sort of differences do you see? I'm in a snow-free environment and don't have LSD but once I upgraded to PSS tires, I'm really not seeing much slip at all.

it bites much much harder coming through the turns. even on the straights you can really feel both tires clawing for traction. really should be a standard item on all rwd AMGs.
