Traction control
Hey guys, I figured turning the traction control off is as simple as pushing the button no? Obviously when you hit the button is says "sport mode". It was cold and starting to rain tonight so wanted to have a little fun In a parking lot and learn my car a little. Seems like as soon as the wheels start to spin the traction control kicks in and kills the power. My imagination?

Hold the button down until it says ESC-OFF. Any time you brake the system is active in the background. Also, if you want to drift, you need M mode or else it will upshift when it detects wheelspin.

Gotcha. To clarify, are you saying as soon as I hit the brake, the traction control re enables itself?

Basically it will be active when you brake, meaning it will stabilize the car. That doesn't mean it all turns back on and stays on and you have to turn it off again. Say you are at a track. When you brake for the corners, it will help you out but if you come off the brakes and floor it, the car will probably spin in the corner. I hope that helps.

Funny you say that. See I have a unique situation. I bought my car against my wife's wishes. In other words I went and traded in my brand new 2014 E class that I had for exactly a year, on a brand new C63 without telling her. So as much as I'd love to sit on the couch browsing the owners manual, that wouldn't go over to well. It's quick to bounce some questions off the members here. Which I happen to appreciate a ton!

yup, my read of the manual IIRC correctly is that you can turn electronic stability control off. But not traction control. So there is a difference. Not sure exactly what the fine details are, since I haven't disabled the stability more than once so far. But I think traction control and antilock braking remains in place to hopefully keep us from flying off the road at 100 mph
