black flaps under rear quarter panel
Anyone know what these things are and what their purpose is?

I think all cars have it to vent the pressure. Otherwise, you will have a hard time opening and closing doors and trunk.

Yep vent
You bring air in from the windshield/hood area thru the cabin and out the rear
BODY HARDWARE / QUARTER PANEL / QUARTER PANEL & COMPONENTS / Vent valve
Must have a valve the moves as pressure increases
Just a flap or something that drflects under static or velocity pressure?
Since they call it a 'valve'

I'd never thought about the need to vent but it makes good sense. Whether it's the fan running to bring in fresh air, the trunk slamming or the doors closing - there's got to be a way to release the pressure. These little things vent only from the trunk but the trunk isn't really sealed off from the passenger compartment, so they probably cover all the vent needs.
