Transmission Mount Failure
Has anybody else had that? Mine failed at 8,500 miles.
It does not seem to be a big deal (60$ list price plus a bit of labor, maybe 200$ all in, covered by warranty). Just curious about whether this is common. I would not have expected such a simple part to fail so early.
PS: It is also called the rear engine mount, part number A212 240 10 18

Interesting. What symptoms did your car have when it failed?

A knocking noise, mostly when cold, less so when warm.
It took me forever to find anything. For the longest time I suspected the recent LTH install to be the culprit and we looked for any possible place the exhaust could be hitting, but could not find it. As it got gradually worse, I was eventually able to locate the noise by pulling on the headers and moving the entire engine/gearbox a tiny bit by doing that and was able to provoke it. Brought it to the shop yesterday and yes, rear engine mount failed.
Part is on order and will be installed in a couple days. Hopefully that will really be it.

Usually you get like a rough idle when your mounts start to go, tranny and engine. Could be the fluid came out from a bad hit or tear. Mine never had a knocking noise, only rough idle when the car was still at a light etc..But I hope that solves the problem for you. Inspect the old mounts and let us know what you come up with when you replace them

At least the transmission mount looks to me like a simple rubber vibration damper, I would not have thought there was any liquid in that one. Also never saw any liquid leak anywhere (and the car is always parked over night in the garage, so I would see a leak). I'll look at it when it is out.
Maybe the engine mounts are more sophisticated with liquid inside.

Yeah they are, its a very minimum amount, i'm not sure you would even see a leak. I didn't know they had fluid either but i was told that they do

no fluid in the trans mount, only the engine. Lots of excessive vibration and shaking. They are hit and miss just like mounts, depends on how its driven. Launch at the track with slicks frequently and im sure they'll wear much quicker.

You mentioned this is covered under warranty - did you take the car to the dealer with headers/tune on there for the warranty work?
I installed the same AR group buy headers and upgraded tune and have some odd vibration at times too (slight rough idle). My installer pulled the engine to install headers so I'm wondering if the engine mounts were not secured properly or perhaps starting to degrade.

Yes, I brought it to the dealers with the headers. They loved them - as they are obviously a professional piece of hardware. No discussion about the warranty as a result of the headers.
The install of the new transmission mount will be tomorrow.
