also, would you guys find it fishy if someone has a 2012 car and has had oil changes done outside of MB? The seller has stated he takes his car to his mechanic.

I will check carfax, and inspect for paintwork myself.. but that part bothered me a little.

Ask if the seller has receipts for the oil changes. Check out how often and type of oil & filter used and you should be good. See if you can find any info on the mechanic's reputation either from other customers or online reviews. As long as a quality oil and filter have been used and as per MB schedule I would not be overly concerned.

also, i'm buying this car from a private seller, think there is anyway to verify the cars odometer hasn't been tampered with etc? i was thinking of asking the seller to take it to MB to have it checked out (make sure everything is in order verify warranty etc.) and i'll pay for the inspection.

would they do something like this? car only has 26k on it. but i need to know it's legit.
