Repairing rims?
is there a way to repair the amg wheels? specifically the 2012+ rims, as they are aluminum? i was told if they had curb rash etc, that they simply had to be replaced.. there is no refinish process for them. true?

I had minor "curb rash" and had it buffed out. Minor scuffing is easily repaired. They aren't painted rims so the re-finisher has to be knowledgeable so it looks uniform after the repair.

My stock wheels are badly curbed so I just bought aftermarket wheels. Here's the response I received from a wheel repairer at the time:
"Your wheels are machine finished (cut on a C&C lathe) . While we can remove the curb rash and make the wheel look better you will see the line between the old and new clear coat. The only way to restore them to the machined factory finish is to send them to the plant to be refurbished."
I received quotes of between $150 and $200 to have them remachined at the factory (plus dismount/mount tire costs). Mobile repair was $200 (with a visible refinish line, tires stay on though).

I had all four done on my 2010 ML63. It had 22s and the rims were gouged in multiple places. I took to my local Dealer here in Tucson and they contract with a mobile repair guy. $130 per wheel and you could not tell they were repaired... looked brand new.
