Waited to long for the release, but ordered the 507.
Me thinks W204+M156= Win win!
Coming from the A45, identical seats other than you have more adjustability in the C63, stupid Ipad screen which looks like an after thought? Whats wrong with the old gear stick? Hmm
My 0.02 cents

the car is godawful ugly. Ipad is ghastly, and frankly much of the rest of the interior is also gross (don't like the round vents at all). The exterior is just not as aggressive looking as the 204. Yes, some of the tech is fantastic, the additional power with better fuel economy, the diff, the turbos tucked neatly away. But I wonder if this thing is gonna overheat on the track like the 204?
Anyway, I'm sticking with my 204. And don't expect that the 205 interior won't start creaking and making noises over time. It's not like they decided all of a sudden to wrap every interior piece in felt or something. You're gonna get the same creaks and noises. The car is a beast, and a beast gets shook to bits over time. My 204 is still quiet, but I'm sure that as I thrash more on it, it will start to creak.
It looks like you could easily accidentally break off the ipad too. That'd suck. But I agree about the column shifter. Who is shifting manually NOT using the paddles? For everyone else, I can't imagine why you'd be against the column shift. I'm in C, or S+, or M. And I ain't flippin' back and forth between them, so no problem with the column shift.
I'd love to drive one though...

I wonder if the cooling system is similar to the 2013+ e63... Optimized with separate systems to cool more efficiently

i REALLY want to see one in person, but the technology added to the car alone make the w204 seem really old.
I dont think i'll be rushing to buy one, but i like options.
As a current mustang gt owner i'll say this.....unless they improved the build quality i'd avoid it. Maybe the shelby is built better but the suspension on our 5.0 squeeks and rattles
If I was looking at american muscle right now i'd lean towards the stingray or z/28 myself.

I just have one question for you. Does it not or did it not feel like a downgrade going from a 507 AMG to the C400? I sometime contemplate doing the same but I keep feeling like I would be downgrading and that's a step in the wrong direction. Even if I got a E400, I would feel it's a downgrade just cause it's not an AMG. But I would love an all around DD that's fun to drive and is AWD, but overtime I think about dropping the AMG for something else, I feel like I would be downgrading.
Did you not feel like that? How long did you keep the C63 for? Are you happy with your decision?

Yes is the short answer. Funny thing is price-wise there was not much difference, may 6 grand. I ended up with a C400 with options that I would have never chosen but it was on its way and they made me a great deal. Things like HUD, heated/cooled seats, distronic plus and all the rest of the gadgets. It has every option possible so it does feel like a mini S Class.
I upgraded my wife's car going from the R Class to the E wagon, and while closing the deal couldn't stop looking at the C400 in the showroom, with the 19s, sat in it, drove it and all of a sudden I just went for it. It was the first week of November and I was absolutely dreading another winter with my 507. Perhaps I was vulnerable lol but I am very happy I made the switch.
Right now it is very easy with our godawful winter. I know come April I will feel the 507 gone, but I just kinda needed a break. 5 years and 5 winters with the C63 (2011 and 2014 models) and I was starting to feel beat up a bit. Stiff, uncompromising ride everyday, it was tough on my back (chronic back pain), and while every morning I would smile as I started it up , and smiled at the end of the day when I parked it, I just felt like taking a break.
I will be back with an AMG as I focus on getting a car that I have wanted for a long time, an SL63 with that glorious 6.2 which I can enjoy during out short summers and have a daily driver that is a great package. My dealership is exceptional. So AMG will be in the cards again at some point, I like the exclusivity and their brand just fits my passion for cars.

I ended up getting a Jeep for my winter driving. Although the car could've handled most of the days, I know the potholes here would have eaten up my wheels/tires. I now take it out when it's a little warm every week or so, bring it up to temps and run it a bit, keep it in sound condition. But I would also have been unhappy to try and struggle through the winter with it. Instead I beat on the Jeep and look forward to sunny and warmer days with the C63.

Really? Send us a link to a review that compares the C450(sic) I think you mean (W205) C400… vs. the (W204) C63. I have yet to see a side by side comparison, but you have, apparently.

Surge, I've seen two direct comparisons. Checkout digitaltrends.com review and comparison.
In summary, they say unless you're going to track the c63 a lot the c450 is the better overall car.

Here’s where the C450 really impresses, though: I think it a better buy than the “standard” C63. I’ll wait while you regain consciousness.

The reviewer doesn't know what he's talking about. While I like Digital Trends, Road & Track it is not. He says the C450 is "80% of a C63", without discounting that it doesn't have nearly the motor. It's 80% of the C63 in terms of styling and interior etc sure, but that V6 engine is garbage. True AMG is all about the drivetrain. But 80% for the 'normal' consumer that reads Digital Trends for their car buying advice? Sure, ok.

PeterUbers, it's a more affordable AMG. As others have said, it's basically identical to the c63 except for the engine. If you count that as a negative (not everyone wants that much power), the v6 engine is offset by the fact that the c450 has AMG AWD. A feature the c63 doesn't have.

They will have almost the identical design, same interior and options. Only the engine will differ. What a disappointment ....
