C63 hunt
I'm selling my 2010 C300 4-Matic to get a C63. I need the power!!
anyway I was looking at the 2009/2010 and not sure if there are any performance differences in the cars, from the outside it's only the mirrors.
Also is there any known issues in any year of those? what about 2008 too?
I could use your experience.
Thanks!

No differences other than mirrors. Pre 2012 models can suffer from faulty headbolts. Really the only common issue.

Thanks for the help.... I spent the whole day looking the the posts, got a pretty good information to choose my next car. Thanks for your help!
I'll try to look for 2011 that's not affected by the headbolts issue or just get a cheaper one and change them asap.
Again, thanks for your help!

Sometime in 2010, option code P30 switched to P31. P30 has a harsher suspension. P31 has more power. I forget what they called each of those. Development Package or Performance Package. P30 has red brake calipers, stiffer suspension, alcantara wheel, LSD (might have been a separate option?) and rotors with aluminum hats. P31 has a slightly different tune and is supposed to make around 481 hp, has rotors with aluminum hats, some CF goodies, alcantara wheel, and red brakes. P31>P30.

Is the LSD a must? I really wanna get into tunning the C63. Natural tho so no supercharge but I'd definitely try to get her up to 530hp or even more if i could.
Thanks a lot for your help man.

p30 is slightly lower but very stiff (some like it some don't). p30 has LSD . alcantara steering wheel . 2 piece front rotors. "silver" caliper.
p31 is not as low. no lsd (is another option). 481hp sls internals. alcantara steering wheels . 2 piece rotors . "red" caliper.
the hp is easily the same with a tune.. so doesn't really matter ... I would say p30 > p31 instead ...unless red caliper is your thing..or not going to tune the car which not in your case.

This information saves me alot of research time... I was wondering what's the difference between P30 and P31.

I would say on the street you don't neeeed an LSD but it definitely makes a difference. You can get a nice aftermarket diff pretty easily. It wouldnt be a deal breaker for me if the car I found had everything but an LSD. Snow and track work need LSD. And I assume you mean 530 bhp, not 530 whp. 530 bhp isn't too hard to do. A simple tune should get close to that. My tune/filters car put down 425 whp which is somewhere around 520 bhp with 18% drivetrain loss. Headers would be the next biggest gain and usually gets people around 450-480 whp depending on specific setups.
Yeah i was talking about hp ... Doesn't the LSD gain you a lot of power? or at least makes the power less even lower? which gives power
My first things to do would be MHP headers/filters/tune and i would go from there.
btw i have no idea what the LSD does to the car but i read it helps with power loss right?
Thanks for the help so far

Helps keep power going to the wheels. If I inderstand correctly...it allows for some slip before cutting off power (traction/stability control kicking in) so you have more of the power going to the wheels before getting cut off. I think. Someone feel free to correct me.

My favorite explanation of LSD. Start it at 0:15 if you want.
