Wheel alignment

Hey, guys. Has anyone gone to Firestone to get an alignment? I got new tires and was gonna get it checked and the shop is a mile away. Also, was considering their $179 lifetime alignments (versus $79 one time). I get aligned once a year or so when I get at least new rears, but am also wondering if that's too often ... I checked my last two printouts and the rear toe only changed by -0.1 from year to year (towards toe in).

The major firestone dealer here works under their own name and have a decent rep so I called them when the dealer was moaning about aligning my lowered car. They told me they didn't have the tools and referred me to the dealer. Turning down business but at least honest that they could not handle the job.

firestone and other shops will only set the front and rear toe. If you need the camber or caster adjusted (pulling angles) this requires the adjustment bolt kits that only the dealerships have. Most of the good dealers have racks that can fit lowered cars on to accomodate blackseries/sls/slr etc... If you dont feel like the car is pulling and drives straight a toe set is probably just fine but if it is pulling dont expect a toe set to fix that. The toe only controls the center point of the steering wheel.
