AFR Gauge install tips requested - wire harness, mounting ideas, etc

Hi guys. Super psyched to see this bad boy come in the mail today.

Just have a quick question for those of you who have installed one (AwdthisC63??). Where did you fish the wires/harness for the wideband O2 sensors through to get back into the passenger compartment? Is there a handy grommet somewhere under there I missed while working on the headers under the car last weekend?

Hate A-pillar mounts, so I intend to hollow out my ashtray and make a mount similar to this (not yet sure it will fit...):

Will update the thread with install when I get around to it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Why do you need to monitor AFR?

this is the same kit I installed. No complaints with it. Passenger side body plug. Interior passenger side where your feet rest pull carpet up and it's right there near console. Underbody passenger side, the transmission connector wire harness routes to it. Was the easiest spot for me to route. I also used some eurothane to seal it after routing through plug. Once in vehicle I used power and ground passenger footwell area. Slipped harness and control unit behind evaporator to driver side and up to a-pillar. I would have used ashtray like your thinking but allready installed passport 9500 in the ashtray. i didn't want a-pillar either but know there it's not bothering me anymore. Tried a few mounting spots and a-pilar was my only option.

So you don't trust the ECM to correctly meter fuel? Are you able to make changes to the fuelling yourself if your gauge says it's off?

I just don't see the point of this. The car runs closed loop, trust the ecm to do its job.

Sure monitor it after a mod or tune to make sure everything is in line. Gonna be fun to go WOT looking down at your ashtray.

My tip, save your time and money.

- Configurable linear 0-5v analog output for wideband O² for use with piggy back or stand alone ECU’s as well as external data loggers
- Innovate MTS serial in/out (for use with other Innovate & 3rd party MTS enabled devices to add additional logging channels)
- Datalog both O² channels using powerful LogWorks software on your PC

merc63... this is for when your factory widebands that are the same exact sensor arent good enough, you get a spare set to make sure they read the same. duh.

You let us know how that AFR gauge works. I'm sure you will be monitoring some serious stuff with a tune and headers. 14.7 to 12.5 and back to 14.7

Mr747, I am just bitter, had car out and then it snowed a foot, fml. But really monitoring this is pointless on these cars.

No tension, maybe I'm just a bit grouchy when I ask for one thing and get unsolicited advice about another. My bad, mea culpa. I've been modifying high-performance cars for a long time, so just call it force-of-habit for me to keep an eye on and get in the habit of logging such things. Yes it may be a bit much at my current state, but I still want to monitor - never hurts. I like to plan ahead of time, and while I'm thinking of it, for the future...

Lepers hey, one of the most valuable members on this board, roadtalontsi, a certified mb tech, who has a huge amount of knowledge on these cars.

And myself who built my own car myself in the garage on jack stands. Doing arp studs one at a time when all the guys on here said it wouldn't work.

Hmm interesting. Keep listening to guys who can't even change their own tire.

Let it die dude. Go start your own thread proclaiming how ****ing smart you are. Congrats for being able to replace studs all by your little self, whooptie do. I don't want to hear it.

And by the way, there's another MB certified tech who has the same setup I'm going for, at the same mod level, on this forum who will remain nameless. So there you go, genius. Shut it.

I don't doubt your knowledge. You know more about how cars work now than I ever will. It's more your delivery and tact.

Not everyone is going to do things the way you do but that doesn't mean they're doing it wrong.

Lol what a clown. You ask for advice, Im curious, I ask why you want to monitor AFR, you reply with some cocky attitude like you're building a time machine. Headers and a tune, watch out, every second guy on here has that.

So we give you advice, which you asked for by the way, which is that this is pointless. You don't like what we have to say and give some more smart as remarks.

So basically you're copying your buddies build, sweet dude good job. Rice that thing up boy.

He asked for advice on how to route a cable. Not what you recommend he spend his time/money on as you graciously did. Sorry man, you're in the wrong here.

Merc63 you're the assclown here dude, learn how to read. I didn't ask whether or not to install one in the first place. Headers and tune now, yes. But don't come in here ****ting all over my thread trying to act like you're the resident know-it-all - you didn't ask out of curiosity, you asked to be some sort of internet wiseguy and you know it, clown. I know what I'm doing, and you have no idea. You're the one patting yourself on the back for learning all by your little self how to install studs - they're screws basically by the way. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. Just a tip for you, retard.
