2008 C63 Transmission Question

Q. What are the differences between a CLK63 Black Series Transmission and a 2008 C63 Transmission (7G)?

Are they interchangeable other than programming to get them to marry up with the car?

Thanks.

hi bud maybe email weistec and ask them

i do know there are 4 variances of the 7g transmissions you may have to get the vin number of the clk black car and cross reference your vin number and see if the transmissions are the same

i looked into this prior to sending mine off

The CLK63 Black Series does not throttle blip on downshifts like the C63, although this function is addable with aftermarket software. The CLK has the Speedshift 7Gtronic, while the C63 has the Speedshift 7Gtronic Plus, which I believe has a different torque converter (and thus comes from the factory with throttle blipping). The Plus is a newer version that uses different fluid, more efficient, different ratios, etc.

Thanks mate. I know there are differences, but I thought the changes were in the torque converter and not actual transmission. If I keep the C63 TCU and Torque converter and just change the box will it work?

What would the purpose be then? It's the same transmission minus the TC and TCU. I'd pony up and get the built tranny from Weistec if that's the case.

The point is the CLK tranny has just come back from Weistec, fully built.

If I can purchase a freshly, fully built tranny without the cost of shipping it to Weistec (I am in Australia so the cost and time is substantial), then it might be a great idea.

The only thing that has stopped me building my existing tranny. If I was closer to Weistec HQ then I would have done it a long time ago.
