Has anybody replaced the alternator by themselves? (DIY guys please chime in)
I recently had a voltage issue that I traced back to a bad alternator. Just ordered one from PartsGeek for a great deal for only $180. My question is, does this job require me to drop the frame in order to get to the alternator or is there another way around it? My mechanic friend is convinced that is the only way to do it but I'm looking for a second opinion. Thanks guys

Remove under panels to remove bottom bolts to alternator. Remove electric fan with shroud assembly. Get top bolts to alternator from top and alternator comes right out.
