2 year extended CPO warranty worth it?

Hello everyone....I think this is my first post here.

I'm an M Car fanatic(hence the name) and I recently picked up a CPO 2011 C63 with 37k miles. It already had it's 40k service so the 3 year pre-paid maintenance plan wasn't worth it. I did, however get them to give me 2 extra years on the CPO warranty for ~$4500 IIRC. Doing some thinking, I don't think this is a good deal at all. Is that worth it? Should I cancel it and get a longer third party warranty for cheaper?

I will probably only put around 4000 miles a year on the car.

you can get a third party for less. i got easy care coverage for 4yrs 75k(total) miles for less than that....BUT it has a $250 deductible

I just got off the phone with a mercury broker and he offered 5 years/70k miles for about what I paid for my 3 years from MBZ. He said he's on this forum so he may chime in.

I can say that while while you'd think it would be cheaper to wait until the cpo warranty is near experiation to buy it's not always the case as the price of third parties is based on mileage and from what I saw higher than 35-39k mi and the price goes up quite a bit.

My original plan was to wait it out, but when i saw the price jump i got the warranty

No warranty yet... I'm still debating. I have a great indy shop here who is very reasonable with costs. I just broke my arm this weekend so some of my DIY plans have been put on hold. I may get them to replace the PVC valve and intake manifold gaskets/bolts. Other than that, the only thing that really scares me is the head bolts. I think you said you're not affected, right?

Indy are great for a little cheaper labor and DIY is better, but Merc parts prices are still high and when those big things go bad there is no going around it.

Yeah I had my VIN checked and it's late enough to not have the headbolt issue.

Sorry to hear about the arm. What were you doing?

I have a great indy who works on my e36 when I can't diy but some of these c63 parts prices are nuts compared to the e36

I always get the extended MB warranty and it's always been well worth it. Shop around, you don't have to buy it from your specific dealership.

I thought the new MB CPO was lifetime or 100k miles now? At least that is what I inferred from the ads I have been seeing.

The current CPO warranty is one additional year (over the standard 4/50k), and for that year you have unlimited mileage. You can purchase an additional one or two years also with unlimited mileage.

I just purchased a CPO 2011 E63 and was able to negotiate the additional 2 years for $3999. So make them an offer. None of my Mercedes contacts, dealer or indie felt that an aftermarket warranty for any AMG 63 would be a good choice.
