Help me help you!
Hey there!!
I hope you all are well.
To set the stage, I have an M156 motor with mid length headers that I developed for my M156 people who need a quality part for a good price. My car has only one set of cats, but they are double stacked honey comb in one box, and I'm told at 1000+ cpsi. To get optimal juice out of the headers and tune, I need to work on the cats.
What's your experience been? I can't do 100 cpsi because I may as well run catless. I can't do 200 because of the same reason. I am told 300 cpsi is a great balance of back pressure and flow. MOST importantly, I want to run 300 (and not 200 or 100) because I need to eliminate noise from the headers. I tried it without the cats and I don't even want to get into how loud it was.
So, I live in Cali and no one will ship 300 cell cats here. Is there another option? What are you guys doing to quiet down your LT's?
(On a side note, to you guys waiting for dyno numbers, they were great. I will post results in the header thread after I work out a couple tune issues!)

Catless long tube headers with an Akrapovic slip on is what works for me. The Akrapovic quiets things down dramatically compared to stock.
Since you want to help me (unless it was an empty sound bite): I need a diff cover compatible with the stock rectifier A171 351 01 08. Do you know wher I can find one?

I think you're SOL on getting anything that isn't CARB compliant while in California. Amazon won't even let you buy it if your shipping there. What I was planning depending on the success of your headers was getting a full system from armytrix or IPE so that way I could pass an inspection at a glance and keep the car quiet until I get out of the city. Looking forward to hearing the dyno numbers!

Umm, ship it out of state to a friend or someone on the forum and have them personally ship it to you, or if in Nevada...go pick up and head to Vegas while youre at it.
Yeah, I know, double shipping, but it is what it is.

What experience have you guys had with 100, 200, or 300 cell count cats? I know that the smaller number flows better than the higher but what about noise? Are cat in these free flowing forms any good at reducing noise?
