Turning off auto-dimming side and rear mirror?

Is there anyone to disable the auto-dimming mirror and rearview? I can't see in the mirrors with the tint at night. there is three buttons under the rear view that I can't figure out. I'd be happy even if I had to press one of them every time it got dark.

3 buttons are for garage door openers.

I think the auto dim is a coating on the mirrors that cannot be 'turned off'

That's a little frustrating, I can't tell who's behind me at night. Does the rearview mirror have it too or just the sides? My tint is so dark I can't tell. I could hold a button on the mirror in my corvette and it would turn off the dimming mirrors, that was a nice feature.

If it is impacting that much, I would remove the tint and install a lighter shade.

Mine is 20% and don't have that much problem

Or maybe disconnect the wire that controls the dimming, if you can figure out which one it is. Or get a non dimming mirror glass (if you are in the U.S., get a euro left side one or vice versa).

Even looking in the side mirrors through open windows at night I can't see what kind of cars are behind me.

For anyone who might come across this thread when searching how to disable the tinting mirrors, there doesn't appear to be a way to do so without unplugging the mirror or covering the sensor.

But I found the the sensor, it's located behind the mirror/glass portion facing out the rear, at the top/center. If you shine a flashlight at it, it's easier to see. I covered it with a small piece of electrical tape (the sensor is much smaller, going to cut a smaller round piece). Success.

Thanks very much for this posting. It solved my problem completely. But what I did was to buy a webcam cover meant to cover laptop webcams for privacy. Now I can slide the shutter open to expose the sensor or close it to disable it. Hope it will help others.
