MBH Headers vs iPE Headers?

I'be done my research and have read that MBH makes great headers for the C63. However the shop I mod my cars through has a relationship with iPE and can get me a deal. I do like the sound of the IPE though.

Was wondering if iPE headers will give me the same power as MBH? Thanks

iPE imho sounds way too raspy for a 6.2L it also loses a lot of the signature AMG sound, I would go with MBH.

MBH everyday of the week. Look at their craftsmanship.
If they made them for RHD, most people with the M156 i know would go MBH.

MBH is a true LTH where IPE is more of a mid length.

Nope. MBH headers have bigger primaries.

I have MBH on my E. The quality of materials and their welds are great. When I installed them, my passenger side header hit the body of the car. Also one of the tubes was fabricated too close to the flange and I was unable to get one of the nuts on the stud. A shop full of MB techs tried as well as several friends. I went as far as removing all the nuts and trying to start it first with the flange on the end of the studs. To this day I never got it.

Since they are made to order I was not able to get one over nighted. I spoke with Mike and he told me he would have one in a few days. This is my only car so I had to pay my fab guy that was doing the welding to remove the header, dent the body, and make it work. I went with the most expensive header so I did not have these issues. Also the headers were delivered 7 days after later then I was told they would be.

Mike mentioned a partial refund for the trouble. When I sent him an email asking him about it I never received a reply. If I had it to do over I would use MHP/ARH products.

I haven't heard any other headers on a C63 so I can't comment on sound comparison but I get compliments on my full IPE system all the time.

The only drawback to the having the exhaust is now my girlfriend wants to drive my car all the time. Meh.

I went for a ride with the full IPE system. It sounded strange in my opinion. I'm used to either a stock car or my car with the long tubes and straight pipes. My car is so much louder and nastier sounding then the full IPE car its not even comparable. I would assume my car is a little louder then most would want though.

Just do you research on prices and quality before you buy as well as the information in this thread. I wish I had done more research.

I'd definitely keep the stock mufflers. They flow well, sound great, not tinny or raspy. I usually recommend MBH long-tubes, mid section, and stock mufflers.

I like the remote mufflers because of the choice to go even louder as well as being quiet during a cold startup in the neighborhood.

Nice. You'll be happy with that combo. Cats or no cats?

I have full IPE and the valvetronic is great.I really get the best of both worlds. It sounds great when open but when I want to just lay low and avoid attention I can quiet the setup up. I have to warn you though, even when closed that setup will be anything but quiet on cold startup - especially in underground parking.

How about cruising around town in manual mode? Does it drone at 2-3k rpms? I like loud exhausts lol.
