Cleaning up the w204 section
Mods,
I'm sure it isn't just me... Been around here quite a while and I think it is time to do some cleaning up on this section. Arguably one of the most visited subforums on MBworld.
Suggestions:
-- We have 2 stickies that are exactly the same thing (drag times). The new one is up to date and includes the old times as well. Consider removing the old version.
-- What is the MBworld wiki thread all about? Hasn't had a post since 2013 and really gets nowhere. Unsticky and let it die off.
-- Potentially consolidate the aftermarket wheels, pictures, and video threads into a media thread. I would unsticky them and create a new sticky along the lines of C63 Media thread and just link the existing threads in the first post there.
-- Aftermarket weight / header threads. While they are technical threads, the weight one is referenced rarely and those of us who have been around for a while answer new exhaust question threads on a daily basis. I'd unsticky and let those go too.
-- Add a FAQ/Forum rules sticky. We need one of these desperately. Some other subforums have great FAQ stickies where they reference threads such as the aftermarket weight, headers, etc.
Bottom line, there is room for improvement. These are obviously just my suggestions and I'm sure other members have some constructive inputs to add as well.
***** PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS ABOUT VENDORS BUMPING THREADS. WE ALL HAVE HEARD THAT ISSUE PLAYED OUT TIME AND TIME AGAIN *****
I'm not expecting anything to change. Just dropping in my friendly suggestions. I'd even be willing to throw together a couple of threads that would consolidate things, draw up some guidelines, etc. Obviously it wont eliminate all the clutter, but will help. People try to search things and type in "c63 wheel offsets" and results in "how to change the oil in my g55." (Exaggeration, but you get the point)

Anything to clean up would be progress. There is a lot of valuable info in here, but is hidden under a lot of inconsequential content. Ideally there would be a broader section for tech tips, that helps to find solutions to recurring questions. Main criteria would be that the usefulness is ongoing, as opposed to time limited (like an equipment sale).
In summary - a Tech Tips Section, maybe subdivided by topic area like drive train, suspension, aesthetics, etc.

I recently purchased a G37 sedan for my wife. Went over to the myG37 forums and everything is laid out so easy. Was looking for all the interior/exterior bulbs to switch to LEDs, whole section just for lighting, found what I needed quickly and easily.

Add another +63 for me! especially a good solid sticky with FAQ's that links to the most viewed/accurate threads regarding specific topics such as tires, headers, alignment specs, brakes, etc...

Reach out to user/mod speedlimit for help on all this.
I'm happy to lend a hand also. The old 1/4 list is going to be unstickied and allowed to float away (it has to be kept due to legacy timeslips).
The FAQ is an amazing idea. We could construct a list of questions with links to the best answers. That will cut down on a LOT of aggravation here for everyone.

Why are there no categories? Engine, exterior, interior, wheels/tires/brakes, drivetrain, media/videos, general discussion, classifieds, vendor classifieds specific to w204 like other forums?

Another suggestion that would make complete sense to do (would also clean up this section):
Create a Classifieds sub-forum within the W204 C63 AMG section. It's a PITA to find out what people are selling and having to sift through other general related threads. It would be beneficial to do it for each chassis, but all I care about is the C63 w204

. . . or you could just go to the existing Classified forum where things are already well organized (exterior parts, interior parts, wheels & tires, etc) and filter for just C63 or just W204 parts. It's at https://mbworld.org/forums/classifieds-55/

Process works the same whether you are on the Classifieds forum or on one of its sub-forums (interior parts, exterior partds, wheels & tires, etc). Over on the top right, immediately below the page numbers, is a 'Search this Forum' function. type in C63 or W204, or both. Voila!

If the seller doesn't know or doesn't care that his part fits a C63, he's certainly not going to bother posting it in the C63 part of the forum.
If you are thinking that the forum can be programmed to automatically determine which E63 parts might fit your C63 and display those for you, you have mad programming skills. Please send me your resume - I'd like to hire you!

I am not having any luck with trying to get in touch with a moderator on this. Speedlimit? Has not responded. Does anybody know how to get traction with this?

Another solution would be to bump this thread regularly in order to reach out to a maximum of people . Maybe that will draw the moderator's attention
All in all that clean up thing is a great idea. I've been off for at least a month and nothing really changed over here.
Good initiative Kiva
