halogen to xenon conversion question
I searched but can't find any info
I'm looking at a 2012 C63 with Halogen headlights. If this has been addressed please help me by showing me a link as I apologize I couldn't find it.
I've seen the eBay headlights but I was wondering if it's an easy bolt on for OEM
OR
is there a wiring issue.
Also is there anything special about the bi-xenon like an adaptive headlight system that needs input from the ECU
Finally - cost?

From what I've read in 2012 and early 13 MB had a difficult time sourcing/producing the headlights so it became an option.
Makes no sense I know.
But I found a car I want with illuminated door sills, factory LSD, lane assist, camera, P31 package. ..with halogen :-(
Nice job MB

One of my pet peeves about MB. AMG models with halogen headlights, I just don't get it. I mean, I understand that checking the box gets them paid a bit more but damn.
Blame whoever ordered that car. "Hi, yes, I would like a c63 fully loaded please but minus the headlight package." Sigh...
Anyway, go Google "c63 Depo headlights" or something like that. Those would be the way to go. As long as you have halogens then they are compatible and won't need any coding. However, you will not have adaptive features like those of us do who have the headlight package. As in, the Depos wont turn with corners or have auto on/off high beams, etc. However, you will get the look you want.
Honestly, no headlight package is a deal breaker for me. I'd rather have a non-pp, no lsd c63 with the headlight package. At least then I can just tune it (which nets me more hp than a stock pp-c63) and add an lsd.
As for cost, probably looking somewhere around $500 for the headlights.

Everytime I see a post about a C63 with halogens, a tear slowly rolls down my cheek.
A little trick if searching directly in forums doesn't find anything. Go to google, type what you are looking for then add, site:mbworld.org. Then google will only search on that site listed, makes it a bit easier sometimes.
Example: C63 depo site:mbworld.org

I don't want to fake it
Although DEPO headlights may be good they aren't adaptive.
I'm wondering if it's possible to do RIGHT as in put in factory adaptive headlights.....

How much?
Is wiring already in place in the car or do you have to rewire from harness out?
I'm looking at eBay for used headlights and I'm seeing 500-800 per headlight... if wiring is done it's not an issue to me for the 1000-1200 bucks if it's plug and play.

Try user fishcake321 on eBay
She sells the DEPO HID headlights that are a knockoff of the OEM MB bi-xenon ones. Truly plug and play. A lot of people here use them and are happy with them, including me.

It will cost around 5-8k. That is a quote I got when I was first looking for a C63 from the dealer...not worth it. It is similar to trying to install keyless-go afterwards, it is just more work.

And it's easy to convert your headlights to adaptive... Cut a whole in the firewall, connect a stick from your steering wheel to the lights so when you turn they do too

Porsche plays this cheap game. I had a $110k C4S that had no HIDs. I don't think MB plays that game.

Basically, you're not going to do a conversion to OEM bi-xenon adaptive lights. Your best bet are the DEPO ones.

Shouldn't be too hard

The carbon package is easily changed out with a few companies that looks OEM.
The LSD you can actually install a better one (Wavetrac or Quaife)
The p31 package is solved by a tune (which a lot of P31 owners do anyway because you still get some gains), painting your brakes red (and changing them if you really want) and adding a spoiler.
In other words, all of those are easily done for manageable costs.

halogen to xenon conversion question
Ok so for clarification
You can have Xenon..... (which you can replicate via DEPO.) .
But just bc you have xenon doesn't mean you have adaptive headlights
Yes/No?

halogen to xenon conversion question
I'm not looking to kept the car forever.
We have a baby on the way and I'm pretty sure the coupe isn't going to work well
This will be a temp car for 4-6 months to get it out of my system and say I had one.
Then probably sell it and get a 4 Dr E63 or etc.
I need the resale to be desirable
So DEPO is probably not a great idea. And we all know you won't get your money back from mods or tuning.... so....
Does that help to clarify what I'm trying to do?
I see that headlights aren't a great idea now so need to keep looking for the right car

I retrofitted the ILS (Intelligent Lighting System) into my 2013 C350 Coupe. The total will cost more towards the $8000 range parts alone. I did most of the retrofit myself and had the dealer do the programming. Many parts and different wire harness, level sensors for the front and rear, multifunction camera, steering control module, different front SAM, etc....

Wow interesting that it's only a 2000 dollar option from the buyer when building the car but it cost 8000 dollars to do it after the fact
