C63 Intake fix

Hey guys. The check engine light on my C63 has been on for a bit and when I took it to the dealer they said it needs a new intake manifold! they said the intake was cracked and that the bolts had loosened off. Seems crazy so I searched this site and found that a lot of you have had problems with the intake and the active valves. So I took it to my local mechanic to check things out and the intake is off now and everything appears fine! the active valve components all appear fine and operational and no cracks or anything! I hate just replacing things blindly and can`t justify buying a new intake at a cost of around $3500.

Any suggestions?

If the manifold isn't cracked/damaged, it doesn't need to be replaced. If it is and does, look into getting a used one from Weistec. Otherwise, check around for leaks in the gaskets, breather tube, breather tube connection into the manifold, vacuum lines and nipples, etc.

Thanks. Yeah we'll check all that. I don't know how far to dig into this intake. It feels like we're looking for a problem that isn't there.

Change the gaskets and see if that helps. Why didn't dealer show you the crack?

Well I guess because I never asked Lol. You know how these fancy dealerships are. I`m just dealing with a service adviser who only knows what she is told and the techs are across the street in another building.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I`ll just tell the shop to put it all back together and we`ll clear the codes and see what happens.

Assuming no crack, I'd say either gaskets or breather tube are good bets.

Well in the end I just had the indy shop put fresh gaskets in and new bolts and clear the code. I've had it back for 5 days now and have put a few hundred KM's on it and the check engine light has remained out and the car is running like a rapped ape! I do believe its fixed! Gotta like that!

Thanks everyone who took the time to reply!

hi, we had same problem, when I change my filters and engine lights on,when i check the dealer first time they give me change the purge vale second times, they said same as you, change the manifold. cost like 5000 plus labor, and when I got my friends shop take smoke test and no issue, and i clearn the code runing like 3 weeks now no issue, i think you are fine, it just like air pressure change let the engine to fit short time.
