$5200 for an intake?

So last week my car went into limp mode and threw an engine light on the dash, apparently this is because of some kind of vacuum leak caused by a bad throttle valve, one of them is broken. Mercedes wants to charge me 3200 parts and labor to replace one valve and 5200 to replace my Renntech intake system so that both can be replaced and I can have two new ones (a prudent and costly suggestion *rolls eyes*)... yes just the intake. Anyone have anymore insight into this issue?

This is a little confusing, so just to be clear...

Mercedes said word for word that a new intake will fix your problem and its going to cost you $5200?

And why is MB suggesting you put a RENNTECH intake back on your car? Something smells.

I agree though. Also why would it be $5200 just for the intake, that is getting into the Brabus price range lol.

Subscribed! Where do you live? I'm curious as to what dealership I should never visit.

they are probably recommending a new intake manifold which comes with 2 new throttle bodies rather than just 1 throttle body alone. These intake manifolds are notorious for coming apart internally due to the porous material it's made out of. I doubt this has anything to do with your renntech airbox. new airboxes are only a few hundred dollars.

See this thread for details on what i'm talking about.

I'm a little confused as to what the dealer was offering you but if they were saying $5200 just for the intake that seems a little out of line.

Here is a genuine Mercedes intake from us for much less
